Just dinged 10 Craftsman, was going to use Maple Lumber to exp up a bit, requires Raw Maple, Sand Paper, and Stroma Resin, I cannot find Stroma Resin on the vendors in Wayfarer's Stockpilers or in Nature's Bounty, so I figured they must be made, I can't find Stroma Resin on any of the Chemisty Lists either, anyone know where I can get some Stroma Resin? Thanks in advance.

Oh, they're easy to make... if you're a scholar :) So you'll have it to buy/trade for it.

Solutions include hitting the broker boards, auctioning in various zones, or making an alt.

make friends with a couple of scholars, they need your quills and paper and you need thier stroma.

Or do what I did and kindly ask a scholar friend to buy you the Lvl 10 Scholar Recipe book, scribe and make your own Stroma.

This is a Known bug and will be fixed at some point in the future. According to Moorgard it would require a fairly major amount of work so isnt high on their priorities to fix, but it will be done.

This is a BUG.

The Dev's acknowledge it as a bug

here is the thing.

They are likely to REMOVE any recipes from people who should not have it when they fix the bug. SO... DO NOT ask for a refund, complain, etc when they are removed. You have been warned. They are not going to call it an exploit (though it is) and are not going to discipline people for using it. But don't come whining to them or to us (I promise to sumarilly delete such posts) when they are removed from your book.

I had no idea it was a bug, just learned to do it from some one else's advice in game. Thanx for the info Liandra.

Wow..what a rude person you must be Ngreth. You could have ended your post at the "its a bug part". There was no part of my post indicating I might be a whiner or that I was trying to slyly pass exploits. I am a brand new tradeskiller reading these boards trying to find my way and thought I was passing on a tip to fellow new tradeskillers. Ok, anyway, feel free to delete my post now, I'll go find a friendlier board where a non uber beta tester might be welcome. Very unwell met.

I dont know if you ate thistles for breakfast or something, that was just a friendly advice to relieve SOE from the shouts when they get to fixing this. Nowhere in that post were you called a whiner.

Sorry you feel that way. Have a nice time in EQ.

I was not targeting it at you.

BUT I need to say it, as a warning for WHEN it happens. There is no IF here. And I am not saying that YOU will complain, but SOMEONE will complain

Because after 5+ years doing this... I KNOW some people will throw a FIT when it is removed, and I am giving warning ahead of time for what I will do.

So with that in mind, that I DO want a warning in that boilerplate statement, how would you have phrased it (again, be sure the warning is in there)

and I will be HAPPY to rephrase it :)

This assumes you are continuing to read this thread :)

You know what I thought when I read the part about the ability to scribe other classes books being a bug, and difficult for the developers to fix? That my suspicions were correct that they had done a very poor job of designing and planning the tradeskill system.

Well it's less than perfect since we don't have recipies in our advanced craftsman books yet. I'm having a good time though. I just can't wait to see what those books are going to have in them once they get that stuff fixed. Of course the only rare drop I've forested so far is one piece of alder so I probably don't need more than the essentials yet.

Well this could have been phrased better yourself, way too close to bashing... but still a valid OPINION.

I think they did fine on design and mechanics planning, just poorly on SCHEDULE planning (in my opinion)

Now remember, if people continue on this subject to be VERY careful how you state things. There is a fine line here between bashing SOE which is strictly disallowed, and having an opinion that they made mistakes. It is all in how you say it.

And don't try to push us, we don't appreciate it and take it that same way.

Thanks.

And I wonder if the society tasks/quests will eventually unlock some of this common stuff on the society vendor. (once they are fixed)

Even though I can make stroma stuff as a craftsman I'm not sure I can bear it anymore :p

I have no fears. This tskill system (and the game) are fantastic. It has some problems, but I have dabbled in tskills with other games and none have held my attention :)

As far as the mechanics of this tradeskill system, I love it. I think that the tediousness of it will in the long run push some people away that are not die hard skillers. I do not mind making all of the subcombine, fossil temper, chloro resin etc. This may because I have some real life experience with doing a few chemistry things and some leather working. There are some of these things that take a VERY long time to produce. Tanning leather takes DAYS and WEEKS sometimes to finish. This adds a touch of realism to the skilling aspect of the game. I like that it is not just a run around to high level zones looking for rare drops only to put them in a Fletching kit and one click combine, poof, 50k worth of materials vaporized. At least this way you have multiple chances to definitely make the item, just at different qualities of the finished product. As for SONY poorly designing this, I disagree, the system is great, just has a few issues to work out as far as some of the reactions to different tradeskill interfaces. This game is two weeks live and they seem to be doing a much better job addressing issues in a timely manner without interupting game play times at all. If you look at this game like you would a new car model the first year out, this is nothing compared to some of those nightmares. How many new car models do you see that end up with major recalls? Was this because the manufacturer didn't have a long enough BETA or not enough BETA players? There is absolutely NO WAY for any game maker to iron out all of the bugs in a game before they ship it and go live. I think the launch went awesome. If I had one complaint is that SONY may have underestimated greatly the number of players that would be immediately playing and didn't have enough servers out of the gate, but it is something they rectified in short time and there seems to be enough at the moment. I am sure that all of the tradeskill issues are being worked on and fixed in the most efficient way possible so as to minimize downtime and limit detrimental gameplay. The deaths and such from tradeskilling are annoying at best but it is after all a game, collect your shard and go back to work, exp debt tradeskilling is gone just from making a stack of fossil tempers. Oh well, rant mode off. Enjoy the GAME everyone and HAVE FUN

You don't live in Europe, do you? *grin* Trust me...our game play is interrupted big time (like now...it's 4 pm and the servers are down for 2 hrs).

Don't take this the wrong way, though - I am merely making a point here ;)

Other than that I agree with you 100 %...I enjoy trade skills the way they are and just hope and pray that they will iron out the society bug soon (hopefully now *fingers crossed*) because I'd hate to loose all the status points I accumulated over the past few days... Oh yeah...recipes in the Advance Craftsmen books would be nice too :D

You are correct, and I must apologize, I had not even thought of the time difference in relation to the server down times. Hopefully they can get the downtime to be less and less as the game progresses and they iron out more bugs. I love the fact that we can be from all over the world and play games together. Ok thread hijack off, lol, I didn't realize til I had posted that I replied to the stroma thread instead of creating a new one. Hopefully the House Ogre won't sit on me too long for it

won't this 'bug' be fixed if they just..um..make the craftsman/scholor/outfitter books no drop?..sure scholor friend can buy book for you but can't trade it to you..and if you aren't a scholor class you can't go into instanced zone and buy it../shrug

for now..i don't mind the bug..:) and i still have boxes to sell if i really need to...:) even if they chose to keep it as is..i'd be happy wif it:) it keeps people interested in crafting at still low lvls...when it becomse more specialized at 20+ i hope it works as intended:)
