View Full Version : Outfitter Pricing on Iron Weapons

Hi outfitters...

So I made a bunch of forged iron stilettos of various quality levels as a way of skilling up between 11 and 14. (These were nice because they only required the help of Scholars for Stroma/Eolith and the rest we can do -- some of the other weapons require wooden Crafted components).

I'm wondering how people are pricing iron weapons to sell to other players (they sell for 3 sp to merchants). I've been told by another outfitter that they are selling at:

pristine forged iron stiletto: 50 sp. Stats: dual wield / 1.4 sec / base damage 3-8 / +4 health / +2 power

forged iron stiletto: 40 sp. Stats: dual wield 1.4 / base damage 3-8 / +1 agil / +1 str / +2 health / +2 power

shaped forged iron stiletto: 25 sp. Stats: dual wield 1.4 / base damage 2-6 / +3 health / +2 power

For the sake of comparison, I can buy an iron stiletto from a mechant for 8s 40cp with these stats: dual wield 1.4 / base damage 2-7

I found the prices for the crafted weapons surprisingly high and I was wondering what your experiences were. Have any of you made iron weapons and sold them to players yet? What sort of prices did you get? Are the stats really worth that much (and are there players who will pay that)?

Cheers,

I have no idea who is going to pay 50 silver for a 3-8 damage weapon. That's way out of hand, you can get a lot better weapons from quests.

I seriously don't understand some tradeskiller's pricing schemes ...well, no wait, I do ...greed, pure and simple, unadulterated greed.

It looks like you have done your homework and I commend you for that.

If it were me, I would probably sell the Pristines for 15sp, the Forged for 10sp, and sell back the Shaped to a vendor (unless it is an item that can be used in another recipe, which it can't in this case that I know of).

I like Distrukshun's pricing plan. If ya don't mind, I'll use it!

Thanks for the feedback everyone -- definitely helpful.

I think that the shaped weapons are probably still worth a little more than the vendor's 3sp. One sold on my merchant for 10 sp today. :)

Since I have a bunch of them, I'm going to try and "price them to move" during primetime hours tonight and see if I can get them out of my bags.

The rule of thumb on pricing that I've seen is that one can reasonably ask players for about 3X what the vendor would pay you (obviously with a lot of exceptions due to supply and demand and with a little bump for stats added by higher quality than shaped).

I'd still be interested to hear if other people have found some armor or weapons that are really "worth it" to players yet (we know bags sell well priced at 4-6 sp), or if players just seem to be sticking with the dropped weapons. Cheapskate that I am, this has been my strategy.

I studied the prices of items on the wholesaler last night and I think what happens is someone arbitrarily puts a price and other people who tries to sell the same item just prices it about the same range. So unless alot more competition occures and people undercut each other's prices, you'll see these high prices for crafter weapons. I guess I should not have sold my 2 shaped iron longswords back to the vendor for 3 sp each :D Its ok though, I have enough materials to make about 20 more :)

Actually his example is an odd one. From what I am told by my guilds roguish types, decent DUAL WIELDABLE weapons are realtively hard to find. Thus the stilletto's apparently at 3-8 with a 1.4 delay are pretty fabulous weapons or so I am told. I have orders for 4 set from guildmates already.

On Antonia Bayle at least, I know that nearly no one is selling pristine weapons, or at least were not when I was looking last night. There were plenty of forged but pristine was non existanct.

Look for 'Blades by Gilfalas' franchises to open soon btw...;)

Once I am done with my guildmates equipment I will turn to profit.
