Hello!

Something strange happened to me in Freeport yesterday, I was wondering if it has happened to anyone else or there’s a possible solution.

I’m wandering around Freeport, and I went to move map box – and the thing just disappears! It’s totally gone from my screen. I go to pull it up through the window command keys and it doesn’t pop up anywhere. I reset the map settings to default location, try and reopen it and it still doesn’t show up. I can’t figure out what I’ve done with it. I thought maybe I had moved to the edge of the game screen but it’s nowhere to be found. I’ve tried to move my other boxes to the edge of the screen to see if it’s possible to ‘lose’ a box this way and it doesn’t seem possible, enough of the box remains viewable to know where it sits on the screen. I logged out and when into Qeynos under another char and I couldn’t pull up a map for that city either…Is this a possible bug? Has anyone else had this problem or am I just fool?! :(

Thanks!
A

Actually, I'm having an odd mapping problem, as well.

I can't seem to call up my "vapor trail" at all. I doulbe-click on the landmark, I see the message stating that the game has provided the trail for me to follow, but it's invisible.

I have my graphics setting maxxed, too -- and it DID used to appear prior to last night. So, I /bugged it, and we'll see.

Wierd...

I would make a backup of your UI file then delete the original. This should force a new one to download when you run the patcher.

I have the same issue with the golden trail. If I click from the map, nothing will happen, even though it gives me the message. If I go to Waypoints, 90% of the time I'll get the trail, 10% of the time I won't. After I get it from the Waypoints screen, I have to zone before I can get it again. Very odd.

Is this a confirmed workaround for this?

Will I have to redo my UI setup every other day, or so? Grrrr...

Well - I would try something else first. Under options there is a reset function somewhere...under user interface if memory serves (no - I still haven't got my copy yet LOL). I lost my exp bar in beta somehow and managed to restore it that way.

Failing that - try something that worked in EQ1 with similar problems..change your resolution. What's probably happened is that you inadvertently moved your map to a location "outside" of your screen (for want of a better explanation...) - if you change your resolution it *should* reappear at least partially somewhere on the screen. Grab it, move it someplace prominent, change your resolution back and *walla*.

Last (but not least) rather than repatching the entire UI, try to locate the xml file(s) in your ui folder which correspond(s) to the map, delete them and repatch. However, making a backup of your current UI before you try to delete anything is always a good idea ;)

Good luck :)
