I'm so angry, I could scream.

I've stayed up until 1:17 on a workday trying to get a quest done. These $*%&$* generic elm tables (a LIGHT BLUE recipe) are so bloody difficult to make. And now the (#$*(*) questgiver won't take the *#&$( tables, so I'm out ten silver for the tables.

Recipes are too difficult for how "easy" the game tells me they are. If a recipe is "easy" I expect to make shaped 50% of the time, not 10% of the time with crude 60% of the time and mangled wood 30% of the time.

I'm not gonna be able to play EQ2 for the next few days on a brand new PC that I bought expressly for the purpose. THAT's how absolutely furious I am with this game at the moment.

I've had it up to here with the crafting system in this game. This isn't fun. It's sadism.

I'm sorry its going badly for you atm. I'm a little confused. Is this a bug issue that he won't take your tables? or are you not able to make the shaped tables that he wants? I get exasperated at times as well, and many poor critters in various zones have suffered my wrath. Take a little cool down time, and approach it again with a fresh perspective later on. Maybe use the buffs in a different way than you were. Sometimes I seem to get better results when I ignore the level 2 buffs and stick with the level 1 ones. This crafting system definately takes some getting used to as we all know.

I have no idea as to how the buff system works since I wasn't in beta. All I know how to do is play match-the-icon. I don't think at level 12 scholar I have access to the level 2 methods but I may be wrong. Do you have to buy a book or osmething to get them?

Nope, just open your knowledge book by hitting 'K', then click on the tradeskills tab. Your new abilities will be toward the end of the list and they'll have the same icon as the lower level ones.

Basically, the buffs are the same icons you press for the reactions. Position yourself so you can see the floating numbers that come from the machine on every pulse, then hit an icon when theres no reaction needed between pulses to see what the effects are. Usually they add some progress at the cost of a little durability. As a side note, if you move the cursor over the icon in your knowledge book, it'll pop up some text describing the effect of that ability. You can also stack your abilities while crafting too for multiple effects. Experiment with it and I'm sure your crafting will go much better.

Umm, yeah, gotta agree with Moonshade here. You are upset so I'm not going to try the long explanation but the short version is this: You aren't using your skills effectively, you haven't taken the time to learn how to craft properly or to best effect, and as a result you are doing badly. I'm sorry to be blunt, but that's the answer to your problem, not that the game hates you.

Crafting in EQ2 is complex. I know we all want to just dive right in and start doing something rather than learn about it, but we all need to take time to learn. The good news is you are on the right boards. There's one hell of a lot of information here to help you. But if a level 12 warrior came on here who was having problems, hated the game for being too hard and punishing because he couldn't seem to kill stuff to a reasonable degree, and then admitted that he didn't know how the skill things worked...well, let's just say there is a connection of cause to effect here.

Take a break, as long as you need, and then when you are ready to come back make your first priority to read up on how it works.
