Greetings,
After reading through the many great guides on the website and digging around on the forums, I’m still hopelessly confused about the different lists of recipes available to a crafter at any given level. I understand the basic idea of purchasing “Artisan Essentials X” and then scribing it, provided my artisan level is X or higher. I was in the beta towards the end and did exactly that - I found myself presented with a variety of recipes from food to fighting gear. Where do all these other books come in, however? What do the (I assume) book titles in parentheses mean after a recipe name? As an example:
After making make basic items, Joe the Artisan has enough experience to ding Artisan Level 6. He purchases his “Artisan Essentials 6” from the fella in Isle of Refuge and scribes it into his book. He decides he’ll try his hand at making a scroll for his friend the Priest: Minor Healing (Apprentice III). Does this mean he can’t make the scroll without another book? Will he need a component found only in the rare, dropped books?
Is there any basic pattern to understanding how dropped vs. purchased books and recipes work? For example, if I purchase all my Artisan Essentials books, and only want to make things from those books, will I need a recipe from a dropped book as a subpart? Are there complete sets of books (I was unable to tell form the lists) such as “Artisan Components 6” and “Artisan Components 9”, or does each level have one dropped and one purchased book?
I’m sorry for all the questions - there’s a whole heap of great information out there, but I can’t seem to find what I’m looking for. Maybe I should just bribe the search function with artisan-made cookies.
