View Full Version : Fired up

Is anybody else just pumped to be in this phase of the game? Just think, we will be some of the first to learn the answers to all these questions we have now. This is always my favorite time in any game release, but I seem more excited than usual about this one.

Sure it's frustrating sometimes. We don't know everything we'd like, and the information sometimes seems to come really slowly. On the other hand, we haven't been dissappointed yet :)

Anyway, I'm excited about what looks to be a great game. We also seem to have a really good community here for support, which will help a lot. I can't wait to play.

I was fired up, especially after getting that email back at the end of April saying I could sign up for Beta. Then Beta got delayed until July so that it could be started alongside the Europeans (and with the way UbiSoft appears to be going, that might be questionable--they still haven't got the CC discs out for European preorders, let alone start the preorders).

And now this perpetual 'watch the magazines for new info' almost every time a tradeskill question has come up. And instead of magazines, we finally get info from a fansite get together, which didn't include Ngreth or Denmom at all.

Needless to say, I was fired up, but now burned out. I'm sure that if I get into Beta I'll get fired up again, if I don't then I will be fired up when I get my preorder and wait for the servers to go live.

In the meantime though, I'll just sit and wait and kibbitz (I'm good at kibbitzing, I think) and wait and hope that things don't go downhill for crafting as it has for so many other games in the past.

Hmm, maybe I was wrong about disappointment. :) It will get better, Grei.

I just reread my post starting this thread and, wow, that was borderline fanboi. I better go get a cold drink.

I wouldn't have posted so much about crafting if I wasn't wanting to craft. ;) Just the ongoing delays in information release and then the changes without any warning (though I admit that changes are to be expected during Beta--it still would've been nice to know that they were working on changes) have worn me down.

I've been trying to come up with new speculation threads for the new boards, but keep running across the lack of a clear picture of the changes. Not that I'm knocking the fansite coverage of the changes, but it'd be better if there was a followup from Moorgard confirming and defining the new crafting tree. The speculation that's already rampant is already changing the tone of what I originally assumed each subclass would be doing--and not for the better in all cases.

After being pumped up for the last couple games that I have played. SWG being one and still playing. I really learned from it just to take what they give and hope they tell you what they want but don't accept anything until you are playing the game and even then expect changes. :)

It's nice to have cheerleaders, being so positive in this stage of the game. We've all been hankering to get our hands on Beta just to whet our appetites. I've been reading the EQ2 boards just to keep up to date what is found. Instead I find people like Grei, Homeslice, DeWeasel getting our thoughts going, keeping the excitement lit. Thanks guys! Big thanks to EQTC for having a place for us to congregate. Thanks N&N!

I was an avid tradeskiller in EQL and did a teensy bit in SWG. I'm really looking forward to a lot of the exciting things to come. :D

That is the CC disk version of Ngreth. I will see if it stays that way in live (and change it if I change)

Hmm. I used to do the occasional backflip off the diving board (MANY years ago :) ), but I'd probably throw my back out trying now. And if I actually managed to do the splits, I'd never walk again. :D

First time I've ever been referred to as a cheerleader -- I was always a band nerd :D

I will echo your thanks to EQTC -- this is shaping up as a great forum! I'll also echo your excitement. I really really want to get started in this game -- it would be great to be in that thing we are not supposed to mention (looks over his shoulder for hungry ogres).

Would need an entire pack of razors and two cans of shaving cream to mow the legs...

Would have to sacrifice all self-esteem...

Would freak the g/f out...

Three strikes! Not gonna happen! :)

Band Nerds Unite!

Heh, I was actually in 3 different school bands my last couple years in HS. Marching (3 pitch drums), Concert (Contra-Bass Clarinet) and Jazz (Piano). Ah the fond memories of being chased down the halls by the school jocks. I showed 'em though, I'd give myself swirlies just to beat 'em to the punch! Take that! :D

It's a Band Nerd's World! I think I spent more time in the band room than in regular classes (way) back when I was in HS. Man, I really don't miss HS!

The only thing that made High School memorable was being in band. At least it was something to look forward to.

I used to play the clarinet on a competition level before high school. Then once I got into high school, the school hired a trombone player to be the music teacher and he just didn't care much about the woodwinds. Within a year my skills dropped below competition level...and soon after that I gave up on band.

Still dig my clarinet out at least once a year to maintain the corks and pads and play a few songs, but 18 years later it's just been too long since I played to my fullest.

In retrospect, I wish I could've found another option than school band. I had spent years playing the piano and even the violin before my folks finally got my clarinet for me.

Sadly, I probably can't even play a note on my trumpet any more :(

I still play Piano and am slowly learning the guitar, but my clarinet days ended many years ago. I actually left my clarinet in the High School Band room. :) So, hopefully they got some use out of it.

Well I wasn't a band nerd, but I played the cello in high school, so I guess that makes me an orchestra nerd ... hmm .. okay, that doesn't have quite the same ring to it. ;)

By the way, anyone else starting to see a connection to those of us that played an instrument in high school and now are planning to be artisans?

Actually I was a tall flag.....a nerd amonst nerds!

I must say though we had some awesome drills. Our drill instructor was very creative and......hmm....flamboyant. We didn't do the simple basic stuff, our drills bordered on dance routines.

For some maybe but I was too cool for band ;) j/k

I wanted to play in school but never did but I love being an artisan in these games guess I feel it helps out people in other ways than just having to kill stuff. :)

Cool Dru :) I remember my Band instructor would insist everyone call ours by the proper name of color guard, but if they made him mad he would jokingly call them 'flag girls'. As I remember, they're routines were pretty flashy as well :)

Sorry to get a bit off off-topic, but...

Bah! A color guard are those that guard the colors. They're the ones that carry national/state flags. There are generally rifilemen/women on either side, and all flag carriers should have sidearms (real or for show). They are, after all, color *guards*.

Now I know that most marching units have moved away from the color guard to the dance troop, but there are still those of us who remember - and are willing to pass on - what we remember as proud traditions, and honored positions.

</old_fogey>

Carry on.

Yes, I realize the term 'color guard' was borrowed from the military, but many High Schools still use it today, as a quick google search will show. And in thier defense, they are carrying thier school's colors. You have to admit, calling them 'color bearers' would sound silly. :)

Oh, getting back on track here...I'm totally hyped about EQ2! :D

Drucilla

Actually we were required to call it "color guard" too. We had a rifle team for awhile as well.

I say tall flags since someteims that term gets confusing.

Color guard was also used in Drum Corps in a by-gone day. :)

I'm itching to get my hands on EQ2, as well!

I found a place up here that has something called senior guard. It's a drum corps with no age limit. I may actually return to those roots of "color guard" this autumn. :)
