Qeynos 5 Room ~ Basement Wall and ceiling decorating

Hey...I didn't see this called out in the deocrating portion of the site, and just wanted to confirm what I'm sure I already know. In the basement of the Qeynos 5 room houses it looks like I can only change the decoration of the flooring, but not the walls/ceiling.

Is this correct, or am I missing some special trick to do this?

You're not missing anything. Qeynos 5-rooms are pretty flaky in several respects, and among other issues, don't like you having a properly "finished" basement by allowing full wall and trim options. You will also find that some of the inner walls (the ones separating areas, as opposed to the ones that are part of the outside walls, tend to try to "eat" some things if placed just right/wrong, so make sure to note item names of things you're placing on the walls down there as you place them. If one looks like it'll display, but disappears the moment you place it, you'll want to know the item name to make it easier to retrieve it from the house.

Correct.

As 'Mum said, the Qeynos housing (5 roomers especially) are very old (dating back to when the game came out) and haven't been really upgraded since then. The walls and ceiling in the basement can't be changed, and many of the walls are NOT flat (which causes items to be "eaten").

I still hold hope that they'll be revamped eventually (including better control over wall options and maybe more options).

To place paintings or other wall items on the bits of the walls that tend to eat paintings, it helps to place a market board or two on that spot to give the item you want to place a surface a bit out from the wall to be placed on. Then just /pickup the market boards.
