I am very proud or our guild's 3 guild houses (officer houses atm) that are communally used by our fantastic veterans who spent hard earned status points to fully furnish them with elaborate crafting stations.
I absolutely LOVE crafting in our halls but, it's well known in the community that there are some major inhibitors to being a home-based crafter that not even the best preparation can help us with.
As we discovered the crafting epics a thought occurred to me... what would be a coveted reward for us crafting pioneers that have seen the system overhauled, wasted weeks of their lives upping skills that are no longer used to be self sufficient cross-class subcombine makers, stick with it because their friends count on them even when their is no market demand?
these folks that are the first level capped crafters on our severs every time it raises and are viewed as masochists to many in the community that just didn't like crafting when they tried it and are constantly continuing to craft with no xp to keep the guild supplied. (I always wondered why I couldn't up our secondary class, like tinkering, similar to AA. I mean it's exactly the same grind but that's another thread probably.)
Don't get me wrong, most of us have come to eventually appreciate most of the changes and hold hope every time the desire for our wares drops that SoE is working on rectifying the perceived insult. I made a point of not looking at the stats for our crafting "epics" jsut because I was really hoping it would be a big "thanks guys, for all your hard work."... and it is pretty sweet to have earned a run-buff and the other skills are definitely sweet.
Crafting skill bonuses almost feel like overkill but, I'm certainly not complaining... I was just sitting here and had the epiphany... what would REALLY ROCK for the old school seasoned crafters and make their crafting experience more enjoyable is doing it from their own shop!
Anything that allowed a us to craft from the comfort of our own home is what the uber crafters would love. We crafters tend to be the same neurotic folks that LIKE spending time decorating our houses, throwing e-parties or just being social recluses happy to hermit away.
We've earned this haven't we?
It takes me 10 minutes to zone into my fully furnished top end house or I can wait 30 minutes for someone to mail me a missing component (which I've done)... How about a LORE NOTRADE market board with a buy button, usable only by lvl 80+ crafters (arbitrary number for when you think we've earned it)?
Or a workorder clipboard where we could take a dozen crafting writs home with us. Heck, I've even heard the idea of mailorder writs which seemed pretty novel.
Make these items TEMPORARY or with a number of charges... that can only be made through the commission system... by another level 80+ crafter... but I'm sure what ever the reason that inhibits us from happily working from home can be mitigated in today's item mechanics and still give us a reasonable alternative to what is quite literally CRAFTING DUNGEONS. I have seen the influx of outdoor crafting stations and those are sweet btw! ...they just need writ givers near them and I may never craft indoors again even if I have to run a little to get to a broker or mailbox.
(just some thoughts...)
