Lost in Tranmuting

I am at 136 transmuting with my Jeweler who is 43. It says I can go up to 210 transmuting. I have spent every copper i got and I have not gotten an experience point yet. I think i have crafted 5 or 6 fabled adornments(which i have on the broker) and at least 10 or 15 treasured and some legendary but no experience for transmuting.

it seems that my experience is going into my crafting skill. I went from 42 to 43 during this latest session of adornment crafting and I get artifacing experience but no transmuting.

Also instead of using the transmuting buffs i bought at the transmuter guy I am using my artifacing buffs. The transmuting buffs are grey out like every other knowledge skill. I use only what comes up in the crafting window. Did I miss something ? Now I am totally confused.

Aha! There's enough clues here that I know exactly what's happening.

You're crafting items from enigma of the jeweler book(s), which go off your reaction arts for jeweler, and give crafting xp if they're not grey recipes.

For transmuting skillups, you must craft the items found in the Enigma of Transmuting (and Enigma of Transmuting Advanced) books. Those work off your transmuting skill and use the transmuting reaction arts (aka "buffs"). You can get skillups off grey-con adornments, as long as they're from one of the transmuting books.
