View Full Version : Who wears tailored armor?

This is part speculation, part summarization of the official site.

If you look at the armors section on the site, they list a few suits of armor and who typically wears them. Those which appear to be tailored are Leather, Woven, and Robes.

The robes description doesn't say specifically what classes wear them, but I figure it's a safe assumption that robes are the garb of choice for most mage archetypes.

The leather description specifically mentions rogues (swashbucklers and brigands).

The woven descriptions lists brawlers, monks, and assassins (rangers are listed under chain).

I would speculate that the druid classes (fury/warden) might also be limited to leather armors.

We can't say that these are absolute limits in terms of what people might wear. It remains to be seen if there will be chain/plate suits available to some of these classes as there was in EQ I (the druid-wearable cultural chainmail comes to mind).

Yeah I am kind of curious to how beneficial the armor from a tailor is going to be but I am really more into being a tailor for the social aspect and making clothes the armor just comes as a bonus to me and hopefully a livable added income :)

tailors will also be able to make all the social clothing I would think as well. Those don't fall into a particular class so could technically be for anyone.

The high end tailored armors will be some of the best in game though supposedly. If high end raid mobs drop components to make armors or weapons you can bet there will be some good tailored armors :)

Do we know if there will be any non-combat, or as you called it, "social" clothing? I really, really hope so. It's so useful for roleplaying to have the right outfit for the occasion or the character. I was disappointed when I read the description of tailor as being the maker of leather and other light armors, and nothing about actual clothing.

I hope our poor characters won't have to go about all day in chafing armor :D

I hate the chafing ;)

I can't find the first interview with the new skill tree statement, but I swear it stated clothing and then leather armors. I need to find it but I was looking around for it and it is why I added this post here even though I made a more detailed statement on another thread. :D

I'm pretty sure MG has said there *will* be social clothing too..I sure hope so :)

I believe I saw something about social clothing as well. Besides it would be a shame if you had to wear your plate armor while forging something, just so your rags wouldn't catch on fire. :p

I'll need something snappy for when I head out on the town after a long day of sagery (saging? sagination?). Of course, I'll also need a Research Robe that has Resist Ink Stain of at least +20, and occasionally I'll need a Battle Robe for those times when I have to head out into the wider world for that special ubah drop.

So what I'm saying is, I look forward to seeing what all the tailors can turn out :)

i think we can all agree that SWG had the coolest social clothing set up. You could really make yourself a unique outfit with all the styles of clothing and color options. I inherited like 3 million credits ingame and so i pretty much became a Star Wars equivelant of an early 19th century "gentleman" galavanting around looking for entertainment. I spent about 50,000 a day at some point on new outfits etc. I had to buy out storage space for all my clothes. Ya, those were some good times......... from the screenshots i havent seen anything like that for EQ2 tho :/ i hope they add it in. at least all the pure artisans will need something that isnt armor to wear. and no one wants everyone running around in the same tan colored robe.

I am also hoping that EQ 2 has more clothing options than SWG. After being a tailor for a few months I realized most stuff was worthless but even then I didn't have enough clothes to make. The only thing that bothered me with the customizations is that they needed the full pallette for all clothing items and a real yellow

One thing that I think you all are forgetting besides who can actually wear tailored armor is that armorers are goin to need us to make the padding for their armor and weaponsmiths will need our hilts. Tailors will be in constant demand.

If you look at the gear lists you will notice that there isn't much in the way of drops or quested gear for the VLA/magic affinity wearers (Mages). For example, I can think of only 3 dropped robes right now and the level 10/20 quested ones. Right now my Sorcerer would give his left gnu-gnu for a decent bracer, his will go green in a level and the stats are not that great.

Whether SoE sorta forgot about VLA/magic affinity wearers when they created the loot tables or they intended for the VLA/magic affinity people to be the most reliant on crafted gear is yet to be determined for me.

Ennis, there are Armor Quests for level 20+ very light armor wearers that fill all but the head slot on the left side of the inventory window, and the right side of the inventory window is mostly a jeweler's market, not a tailor's.

The t4 tailored armour is very nice.

I'm currently wearing some T4 pristine tailored etched sleeves, it's the best thing I can find atm as Feyiron chainmail is broken, and I'm a mystic (medium).

It's also black with gold highlights, very stylish.

Now I'll be making a beeline for Feyiron when LeBigPatchODoom is released, but until then, I like my pristine tailored etched sleeves and would recommend it to any level 30+ druid/caster.

The puke greeen quested monk armor makes baby Jesus cry.

I, for one, had no compunction about shelling out the gold for a few Medium Quality Badger Pelts and getting some Tailored Cuirboilli stuff made. It looks much better and it's noticeably better in AC and stats than the level 20-25 quested stuff.

And I can walk through town without a bag on my head.

I don't know about what tailors will get to make, but I do know that fancy non-stat clothing is one of the rewards that is unlocked with guild advancement.

Probably well know by now since the original post was a looong time ago, but just for completeness, here's the info from the combat side of things. The entire scout tree wears leather (light) from level 10 until 20, when they get chain (medium). Brawlers (10-19), then bruisers and monks, wear leather throughout their careers.

I added a comparison to monk Armor Quest vs Boiled Leather here (http://p204.ezboard.com/fmonklybizeq2frm10.showMessage?topicID=2.topic).

It's just a personal choice for me since I would rather spend time working on tailoring than questing for the armor.

Good info, but you missed that all priests from 10-19 wear leather, and then druids of both types continue wearing leather to 50, while shaman get chain and clerics get plate.
