I'm pretty new to EQ2 and had a quick question I haven't been able to find an answer to.
Do grey-con mobs drop chests, body drops, or both, or do they have to be a minimum of green-con?
TIA,

Grey mobs will never drop a chest, but can always drop "body" loot.
Mobs must be green+ in order to drop a chest.

Yep. And you'll find most of the transmutable stuff is chest-drop only... I've never seen a body-drop treasured or better item to transmute.

I'm fairly certain I read somewhere official that body drops *can't* be treasured. Regardless, I've never seent them.
Body drops seem slightly less common among greys, but I have nothing but casual observation to really back that up so don't take it as hard data.

Treasured Items are from Treasure Chests or bigger. The Small Chest doesn't have a treasured item neither do body drops.

Thanks for the info. Much appreciated.
And now that I see the logic...Duh! Treasured Item from a Treasure Chest...

Most of the questrewards are treasured as well, just for info ;)

Yep. I skilled up to 23 just on newbie quest rewards from EoF T1 alone -- no other source of items.
I just wish I hadn't done all the other Qey and FP newbie quests already... I imagine if you do just the newbie quests for all of them you should get up to 50 pretty easy. Then go do T2 quests =)

Last night I looted a Small Chest from a croc in Loping Plains. It contained Moonlight (sp) Leggings - a Treasured, tradeable item. I was so stunned that before looting I double checked that it was indeed a Small Chest and that the item was indeed Treasured; it was; I looted. So ...

My little SK farmer got a treasured mace from the scorpions in Sunken City off a small chest. I think these are just error's in the itemization though, rather than being a general rule.

Yeah, there are occasional treasured items that come from small chests. /bug 'em whenever you find them, they really shouldn't be in a small chest but instead a Treasure Chest.

You guys are probably correct and I will do the right thing and /bug it though my evil transmuter self is telling me not to. *sigh*
P.S. I just got the meaning of:
Do no evil because it is a small one; do not leave a small deed undone because it is just a petty one.

The alternative (and I haven't been keeping up reading on treasure chests), is that the small ones just have a much smaller chance of having items instead of never. (*shrug*)

Considering that I have looted harvest rares from Treasure Chests (rough jasper most recently though it was from a named) when I expected them only in Master (?) Chests would tend to reinforce that idea.

That's because rares are now (supposed to be, at leat) treasured instead of legendary.

Update from Loping Plains: I am getting a lot of Treasured items from Small Chests! In fact, I am getting very few non-treasured items from those Small Chests.

I can confirm that treasured items drop from small chests. I don't think it's a bug. I have had too many different treasured items drop. I still get more Uncommon drops from small chests.
