View Full Version : Adornment Tool ?

Adornments are the equivalent of Anarchy Online implant clusters. Both systems augment abilities, mana and HP regen, resists and weapon damage. Both systems also confuse the &*$# out of game users which in turn creates a level of frustration that can turn people off to critical portions of character enhancement (reduced sales at the broker). At first blush adornments seem like just another timesink layer, the names are confusing and locating a specific adornment for a specific slot can be very annoying. Why not use AO style implant design tools for EQ2 adornments?
Now look at the tools available to design AO implants here (http://auno.org/ao/imp.php) and here (http://nanonanny.timezulu.com.au/) - take a look at the screenshot page of nano nanny- I didn't want to hot link the image. Are tools like these hard to design? what portion of the EQ2 game database is public knowledge and can be used to develop tools like this?
PS: I'm not asking Naomi to do this, she is busy with other projects.
PPS: Anyone know a coder that can tackle this project?

It's not as confusing as you think, you just ahve to take a moment to sit and look at them.
I'm writing up a whole series of adornment articles on our guild wiki, publically accessable, with the first - weaponsmithing - completed as of about an hour ago chaulk full of screenshots and other pertinant info. As time passes I'll do writeups on all classes adornments...
Here's the weaponsmithing one...

The EQ2 game database is rather non-public in most respects.
SOE has a pay ($1 / month) online item tool, but it's nothing like an actual DB search and IMHO isn't that useful. Thats what makes us keeping item stats here so hard.... In the old days, we couldn't even see all the quality levels of things on EQ2's official website, don't know if thats still true.

Did either of you happen to download the nano nanny implant design tool or mess with the auno.org web page? I'm jealous of people who can, with seemingly little effort, code tools for computer programs. Heck I can rebuild a 351 Cleveland and drop a hi-performance cam into it, but put me in front of a computer and my brain turns to mush.
EDIT: Nice page Mini

I looked at the webpage, but I didn't play AO so I really have no idea of what it's supposed to be doing. It seems to calculate some kind of requirement, not sure what that means.
And yeah hehe, coding is an art sometimes. I wouldn't know a high-performance cam if it hit me in the head (which would hurt, that much I know, but I don't know that much about cars) but I can write website-based tools to do all kindsa fun things.
Oh, and it's funny Tonopa -- your post has a car add at the bottom for I think the first time I've ever seen one on EQ2TC, lol =)

I don't know how this works exactly in AO. In EQ2 its really straight forward. All you need is a tablesheet like what I did. You can have a look on www.bakual.ch/eq2 in the section Adornments. The page is german but you'll figure out ;-)
You can filter after the slot you like, or the effect you like. Or whatever.
