Would anyone happen to know what the rare components are for Adept3 scrolls?
I would like to start keeping any eye out for these before I actually reach the lvl to make them.

Bronze, or Lapis Lazuli. And you need 3 dropped books as well.

That is for the level 1-9 spells BTW...

I found bronze on a mining node that was also giving tin in Peat Bog. (That was last night, so bronze is in live)
I found coral on the node that usually gives turquoise in Antonica. (in beta)
I found lavastorm robusta bean on a node that usually gives maple logs in Antonica. (found a few days ago in live)
I found silver on the node that gives you iron in Antonica. (in beta)
I found artisan 4&5 (for making the ink) on greater bog faeries, soloing groups of them. (last night)
I'm willing to trade that 4&5 for a refining 3 on Kithicor server =P

Thank you. I'm confused though... there are rare books for trades lvl 1-9?? I thought all recipes for 1-9 can be bought from a wholesaler.

correct, there are 3-9 books that are the "basics" and "Common" recipes... these are vendor purchased.
in addition, there are dropped books (Mobs drop them), which hold recipes for RARE items. (Some people are calling the items used for these recipies "mythical" because they are not JUST rare... they are so rare that you feel someone is lying to you if they say they have one)

The rare books do exist. I've gotten 1 book with Bronze recipes in it, a book with Cured Leather recipes (including the cured leather backpack, and a guild mate has this same book, AND I have another copy of it waiting for another outfitter in the guild to scribe ). And I have some recipes that I can't figure out, because I don't have the base recipe for that armor.

Heh, does anyone else think it's ironic that the rare recipe books are far less rare than the components you need for those recipes?

I must say the books aren't nearly as rare as the materials. I'm the guild book keeper for all dropped books and i have 2 pristine maple strong boxes full of books and likely a 3rd after tonight. However, even with all of the guild harvesting items, we have a total of 2, maybe 3, rares. but then, everyone is out there trying to skill up trapping to get into antonica.

less IRONic, more MOR... you get the point :)
either the recipe writers keep all the good stuff they write about to themselves or they're more, like, science-fiction writers...

Silver and Coral are very rare...I am able to make Adept 3 spells now that would sell like hotcakes but I need coral or silver...
After mining for hours last nite I got stacks of electrum and iron but no rares. Someone was selling coral for 3gp! With that cost takien into account the spell would run in the 6gp range or so imo. Who has that kind of money? LOL

I have gotten lucky and havest two rares sense starting (none that I have used yet... waiting to find someone who wants to trade) and purchased a lapis last night for 3sp... so just watch your broker and don't give up... I'm going to be making the adept 3 for myself and I figure that most people who find them will be doing the same. Non traders will be selling them for cheap if they don't know what they have so get yourself a list of the rare harvests and watch that broker.... if you find one for cheap feel free to swing by freeport and give Opal and pat on the back.

Am I the only one who think that these rare components need to drop a bit more often?
I mean, the way it's going, getting all Adept spells for a caster will probably take forever if at all possible. And when those Master I drop start comming in, who will ever want an Adept III scroll?
As SoE said anything about this? The way it is at the moment, Sage can make Apprentice III, Adept III and Master III. Adept III and Master III will all require rare components I suspect and Apprentice III has been rendered almost useless because of the number of Adept I available for sales.
What good will Sage be?

They have said they don't want this to be like EQ1 where everybody and there brother has every spell. Different people will tailor there spell line the way they want there toon to be (theoretically). So not all 25 Mages (just an example) will have the same spells and one will do better in situation x while the other does better in situation y. The problem is that by the time you can get the rare to make something the item is probably green to you and you have better already. Maybe this will change in the later levels.

After seeing all this doom-saying about how useless sages will be, I am almost to the point to where I'll just darned well go jeweller. I'm already good at artificing anyway. And people always want better stats. But I'm also kicking myself for not going outfitter after seeing all the cool shizzle they can make.
Of course, alchemy would be nice, too....you know...SoW potions and all that jazz.
