View Full Version : Chameleon vs. Jaguar?

I just hit level 49 Woodworker. It was my goal to restock our guild bank with Chameleon totems. Our tanks & healers use them quite frequently. I did the restock, went adventuring a while, and when I got back, I made the Totem of the Jaguar. Now, by the name, I fully expected it to be an agility boost or run speed boost... NOPE. It's another invisibility totem.
Now the only difference that I could see was that the Jaguar totem says 'grants Stealth', and the Chameleon does not. Both are level 49 recipes, and usable by level 30 characters.
Is there another difference that I am not seeing? And if not, why would SoE give us TWO invis totems on the same level???
Thanks,
Agrontis, the bumfuddled ranger of Guk

There are 2 different invis systems in the game. Invisibility (most mages and a few priests) and Stealth (Scouts)
There are some mobs in the game that will only be able to see one or the other. Most tend to see both though. Also in PvP stealth vs Invis plays a huge role. There are separate totems with the see invis/see stealth effects. Even my mage on the PvE server finds it useful to carry a see stealth totem arround. Some mobs like to sit and hide in stealth and ambush you (Orcs in the clefts, Snakes in Sol Eye, Spiders in various zones) when you get close.
As for the Jaguar totem it grants both Stealth and Invis requiring someone to have both "see invis" and "see stealth" to be able to spot you. Having both available at teh same lvl does seem a little silly. maybe they should move the Chameleon one a tier or two earlier.

Well the Chameleon one was 2 teirs earlier before, If I recall correctly.
Putting it at the same spot as Jaguar made no sense to me for that reason... why bother making an invis totem if you can make an invis and stealth totem w/ the same materials...

I'm guessing that the jaguar was supposed to be stealth-only, and it was a shoddy cut-and-paste from chameleon.

Theres definately enough shoddy cut-and-paste going on, which is rather sad =/
