Request - Rares List

Hi, I am an adventurer.

I would like to gather along the way. But I would like to know if what I find is rare or not. I did a search but I could find no good definitive list of what is considered rare.

I respectfully sugest that if something like that was posted here, that foolish adventurer types like me would save the rares!

Example - I know that crafters need cochineal ink for adept skills - but what do i need to gather for them? From what node? That kind of info would be great!

But... but... are you only going to save the rares? Does that mean you're going to get rid of the non-rares? Because, believe me, as someone who spent most of yesterday just trying to get non-rares so she could skill up... its frustrating when there are no nodes left because random adventurers just keep harvesting only to end up destroying 90% of what they take because their packs get full and they don't need any of it. :(

So...if you really feel that overwhelming urge to mine/harvest/gather/etc.. rares or not... please be sure to save it all (yes, even the non-rares) and give it (or, if you must, sell for a couple cp) to your friendly neighborhood crafters...

look at the harvesting node list off the main page. I think mum listed rares in italics

So here is the list - compiled from mum's big list -


Tier 1
Ore - Bronze
Stone - Lapis, Copper
Roots - Yarrow
Wood - Alder
Den - Any "low quality" pelt

Tier 2
Ore - Black Iron
Stone - Silver, Coral
Roots - Sisal
Wood - ??
Den - Any "average quality" pelt

Tier 3
Ore - Steel Cluster
Stone - ??
Roots - Raw Dandelion
Wood - Severed Fir
Den - Any "medium quality" pelt

Sorry if you felt I hijacked your post by asking that you please consider keeping everything and giving it to crafters rather than just keeping the rares, as your post seemed to indicate you would be doing.

Seeing as this thread pertains to harvesting rares, I'll add something. I don't know how much time you'll be investing in your 'rare' search, but in beta I harvested pretty much every node I saw, and still do now in live. I have yet to harvest 1 rare item. They should be named ultra-rare or something. In the long run, you would make more money by keeping all your harvests and selling them for a couple cp per stack, than by only selling the rares you find for 1gp each and destroying the non-rares.

I was in beta, I harvested every node I can. I just *finally* got a piece of silver the other day.

Rares are in fact... very rare. I've done literally 2000+ harvests.

I agree on both, I have (1) rare a lapis out of god who knows how many nodes. I myself give away 80% of what I harvest, if no one wants it then I dump it. But I always ask first.

Bout the only rare items I have found were 1 peice of alder and 2 copper clusters. But in that time I have probably mined 200+ tin/lead

sonuva...... my first day harvesting in nektulos i got a raw dandelion.. its even listed on the eq2players.com as me finding it first on unrest server... i hope nobody sends me mean letters after i say i deleted it to make room for more alchemy harvests...

oh, and i guess i should point out, raw dandelion is tagged no value, so beware..

*edit* the item i found was in fact a "Dandelion Fiber" maybe SOE did some renaming of items?

I have found about 4 alder - but none of the other rares.

Is there any reason to believe that the rare results should be more valuable - do they sell for more (mostly teh don't sell at all to merchants) or do they make better items (has an alder box more slots than an elm one?) so players would pay more to buy them (assuming they had the recipies) .

I would disagree that LQ pelts are rare from Dens. Unless you mean something other than sullied LQ's. Dens themselves sure are rare, though.

Correct he is not referign to sullied LQ's. The Rare is just called Low Quality XXX :)

Yes they reappear, but if you read the threads in the general section you will see why people complain. Due to the huge numbers of people currently in the Tier I zones a major node shortage is being seen on many servers. So much so that people are frequently Node Stealing. The Devs even upped the spawn rate it was so bad.

People on some servers are seeing close to an hour between nodes in the zones they are skilled enough to harvest. And they can't skill up to move on without more nodes. No one can make you do anything you don't want, but please give or sell those common harvest to your fellow players. And good luck harvesting one of the "mythical" harvests (as they have come to be called).
