Cataloging Quests

Off the trades subject a bit. When do we get the cataloging skill? I bought a catalog book last night (at adventurer level 9) and couldn't examine it. Then after checking the knowledge window, noticed that I don't have the cataloging skill yet. When they put it in during late beta I got it, but I was level 15 at the time. Just curious if it's actually implemented in live or not.

Cataloguing Skill is in. I have no idea when I got it, but I started my cataloguing before I reached level 9. Although I think there might be a bug or two with at least one of the cataloguing quests. The "Outside Freeport" catalogue is on my list, and the last two things I need are a Fairy Seeker (never seen any fairies) and a "Wolly Spider". Yes, you read that right.

I've seen "Wooly Spiders" (and they don't work), but never a "Wolly Spider".

Checked again tonight after reading this. Still no catalog skill. Does anyone know if this is unlocked somehow? Am I just bugged?

I've seen Fairy Seekers in the Ruins, Eumerin. They seem to be pretty rare, but they drift around in a cloud, searching for their golden anvil. A ghost whose name I forget is standing behind a building in one of the vagrant areas, which is who the Seekers are looking for. Couldn't get a quest out of it, though I tried talking to everybody involved. Ghost could not be attacked...

I just bought a catalogue myself, but haven't had a chance to figure it out.

One thing I'm going to try is placing it in my house and then reading it.

The way they worked in beta was you examined them, and that gave you a cataloging quest. When I examine the book I bought, it does nothing. No extra window pops up or anything. Can someone verify (by looking in your knowledge window) that they also have the catalog skill? I don't want to /bug something if its not a bug.

Well, it was a bug that apparently got fixed in the last patch, best I can tell. It works now as it should.

Oak: As I mentioned and you quoted, when I clicked examine to 'read through it', no text window came up at all, therefore, nothing to read. :)

Wow, interesting.

I can definately verify that it is functional now, you get the skill on the first time you read through one of the cataloguing books (the one I bought was for Antonica).
