In the other thread about asking question of Moorguard, and wanting to catch him in a "big cage"... made me ponder...

What about a situation like this:

Freeport Builders using their tradeskills build up big wood/metal cages,

Then go out with the cage to capture Lions/Tigers/Bears...

Bring the animals back for the Arena/Collesium events. The NPCs would provide a reward for each live animal brought in... and sometimes the "animal" may be a captured Qeynos person... think nice evil Christians in the Lion's Den...

Good clean entertainment right?

Qeynos folks, of course would have an alternate quest to "rescue" the captured people/animals.

Qeynos Builders would/could build cages to capture/hold Freeport baddies for questioning and prison...

Interesting. Of course it brings to mind a quote from 'History of the World, Part I'
You can't throw me to the lions.
Bleh, mind freeze...suddenly I can't remember the rest, even though it's quite funny. :)

Anyway can you imagine Ratongas being thrown in with the lions? Bring an all new meaning to 'cat and mouse'. ;)

and just to further stimulate... think about the "Questioning" that Qeynos Guards would do. Think about what sort of instruments have been used for "Questioning" all in the name of your diety.

Wouldn't those sorts of instruments need to be created?

I am trying to stimulate some thoughts about thinking "outside the box" of going to find a mob, HACK-SLASH - KILL and get Experience... towards a somewhat more "humane" (if there can be such a term in Norrath) way of getting experience.

Consider a private person (of either city) wanting to start a Zoo. They would need to have cages built, the animals found (captured), homes for the creatures established, and ways to properly care for (providing the animals proper nurishment). The person might not always have room for a new critter... and what would happen if these "tame" zoo criters broke out of the cages into the city?

Wouldn't it be "nifty" if you as a wimpy level 2 character could go visit a local zoo and see what a "Scum-covered Green Beetle" actually looked like, before you had to actually fight one? And if you were foolish enough, be allowed to step into the cage to see what it felt like? And then receive bad-faction from the owner if you suceeded in kill it?

I like both the zoo and the arena ideas. :)

ROFL, Ratongas fighting the big cats -- too funny!

EDIT: and I can see the signs on the zoo cages now: "Please don't tease the sabretooth tigers"

in SWG there were missions where you were given a schematic and sent to people to aquire various parts to the item you were trying to make (by asking them for it or killing em too sometimes) Then you combined the stuff together and made the object and gave it to the guy for a reward. I could imagine this for EQ2, Like a gaurd in Qeynos is supposed to be on special duty at the castle for some ceremony and his armor needs mending and polishing, but all the other crafters are busy, so he hands you a worn ceremonial armor and you can mend it and give it back and he thanks you and gives you his old sword which you can refine in the forge to make a decent weapon.

Well Karikaru,

I have seen exactly that type of quest in EQ... see the Shar Val class specific quests. And yes, I would expect similar ones in EQ 2.

I ponder what sorts of other quests would be truely "unique"... suggestions I have seen elsewhere go like:

Caravan Quest - to act as guards to a caravan, across several zones... where at somepoint along the way, you may discover one of the wagons has a prisoner... and you have the opportunity to free 'her'. If you don't, and succeed in reaching the destination you get your reward. If you do 'free the prisoner' you have some faction adjustments, then your quest becomes a 'rescue' where you are being chased by a possee.

Infilitration - You are asked to invistigate the disappearance of an important person. The investigation leads you require information that can be obtained only if you side with the opposition (get hired on). You must be subtle, and convince the NPCs that you are on their side... and maybe stealthfully kill (or injury a few). If found out, the whole flock of opponents will come after you. And when you die, your corpse dragged off to a cell. Now your personal quest becomes how to find your corpse... if you 'cheat' and have it summoned, the quest fails but finding and looting your corpse, and then escaping undetected will allow you to finish for a partial reward.

Well... maybe I get a bit sidetracked... but think UNIQUE, unusual quests...Things that require more than just hack, slash, nuke the opponents

except the difference, between the noobie EQ quests and crafter SWG quests is, that you dont have to kill things in SWG to complete quests and make money. You just had to get from point A to B to C to A with the product.
