Okay so I've found a sapphire and a diamond, but no clue as to what they are used in. Anyone got any ideas?

Are they maybe some of the Tier 6 resources that leaked out early?

Yeah, for a few days after the last LU lvl 50+ mobs were dropping T6 resource items. They could be some of them.

If you examine the items what does the description say?

There are also new dropped items that are only for use to sell to merchant for cash. An epic trash mob, not the named just one of the lower level that had to be cleared to get to the final encounter, dropped a Ruby last night. I don't have the description because the raid leader had looted it, but it did not mention use in tradeskills or being valued by a guild such as the status items. The descriptions of the new drop items are very important in determining what they can be used for.

Not a full quote, but I think it goes something like this. "looted treasure: a prefectly shaped sapphire, etc." It does not mention being used in a recipe tho. I found these on the merchant for cheap so I figured "what the heck". No flag either on them. I was hoping someone out there might have found a previously unknown tome with the recipe in it. I have collected every recipe book known (secrets too), but not sure that is all of them out there.

Looks like they are Vendor fodder huh. I have to say I am gonna hold onto a couple I've looted just in case.

Didn't they come from Chests? I can't remember anymore.

I do get the impression they were meant to replace things like canine incisors, and orc skulls, the "Fabled" trash worth extra money.

There was a patch message a while ago about replacing the disgusting body drops (zombie guts, anyone?) with VT that was less disgusting. It looks like this is it... Although I want to know how many people want to intricately carve acorns for a living... :D

they definately arnt the T6 items.
