View Full Version : Wholesalers task bugged?

I recived my first task from Batoompa Lumberfist, a friendly big fella in Big Bend. He wanted me to mine 15 tin clusters. I did so, and for each one, the quest journal counted them of and it all looked nice. The tin clusters did not vanish, i still got them in my bag, so in a way, i got 2 uses out of each tin cluster. Both quest AND item for my own tradeskilling.
Once I had all 15, the journal updated to this text:
I have been assigned a work order from my wholesaler.
[x] I have created all of the items necesary to complete the work order.
[ ] I should report bank to the wholesaler.
[ ] I need to turn in the goods to my wholesaler.
When i hail the Wholesaler Jikoora Leaftoe, I get no menu popup. All i get is the standard freeport version of a friendly sales pitch:
Are you going to buy anything today, or am I wasting my time? This isn't a museum display you know!
So, there are several problems here. The quest journal claim i got the quest from the wholesaler, which i didnt. I got it from the other fat dude, Mr Lumberfist. Also the journal claim I created something, which i didnt. I mined something. The journal wants me to "turn in the goods" to the rude troll, but I dont see how I can accomplish that. The 15 mined tin clusters are tagged NO-VALUE, so I can't sell them, and she doesnt asks for them.
Have I done somthing wrong here, or is the quest bugged?

Did you try to hail the quest originator, the Lumberfist guy? If that doesn't work, then I'd have to say it's bugged. In beta once you have a gathering task, you can talk to the same guy and get it changed to a different item if you want. The one that gives the tasks in Willow Wood is the merchant behind the counter in the trades zone.

Yes, the wording on these is confusing. You need to go back to the task-giver, the NPC behind the counter near the zone entrance, not the wholesaler downstairs.
Some of the confusion comes from the fact that the organization itself is termed, by SOE, as a "wholesaler organization" ... then they have their vendors in all tradeskill organizations (not just the wholesaler orgs) as "wholesaler" as well.

Update: The quest is not bugged, but the text is missleading.
When I first came back to the tradeskill instance and hailed the questgiver, I did not have the 15 tin clusters with me, becouse I had given them to a friend. When I later had mined another 15 and thereafter hailed Mr Lumberfist, he took the 15, made a coin noise and said "Thanks for completing the work order." I am guessing he gave me coins, but I cant see any message about how much it was, and I dont beliwe it was any higher amount, otherwise I would have noticed.
So the problem was not a bug, it was me who thought I could actually use the stuff i collected, when they realy where earmarkt for the quest. The dubbel use of the word "wholesaler" also added to the confusion, like Niami pointed out. Now when I know how it works, I wont make the error again, and I hope someone else can skip this litle roadblock by reading this.
In beta if you ever got any coin as a reward a reward window would pop up.
If you do another one of these, could you please check your coin before and after turnin to see if you are being paid?
thanks.

In the final stages of Beta I actually managed to complete one of my society quests after the Harvest Shortage of '04 *grins at mum*.
The Quest Reward did definitely not open up....yet I received almost 1gp from the quest giver. So my guess is - if you hear *kerching*, you got coin somewhere ;)

If memory serves you achieved a higher level than me (I got stumped due to the harvesting skill resets and had wasted almost 2 days raising my adventure level in order to harvest in TS :D ).
Soo...no wonder you got payed more than me *snicker*

Question about the tradeskill quests... why is the wholesaler giving me quests that are above my skill level? Is that a bug? He gave me two tier 2 quests and I can't harvest any tier 2 items yet.
Also, can someone tell me what level it is that you are able to get tier 2 items? I thought it was 40 but my gathering skill is over 40 and I still can't gather anything from Antonica?
Thanks,
Ruby

Be sure to check out the FAQ (http://www.mboards.eqtraders.com/eq2/forumdisplay.php?f=4). You'll be most interested in the Harvesting and Societies, though they'll both point you to an article on the main site. :)

also one other point:
"I need to turn in the goods to my wholesaler. "
You NEED to have the items (15 tin in your case) on you when you hail.
if you do (and the quest says you are ready to turn in) then you are good to go and should see the reward.
IF you used the tin to make something yourself, then you do NOT have them to turn in.
It would be nice if they did it like the collection quests or what have you and the 'quest' items did just poof from inventory. but nope, you NEED to have them with you.
A little later when you get to crafting quests, you need to have all 10 X with you (hope you have some bags)
peace
