I have a scout who is level 18 craftman. I made Flute, drum and Lute. I think bard need instrument to play song as EQ1 do. When I got level 10 and be a bard, I discover that bard don't need them for sing song. Can anyone tell me what the usage of instrument?

I notice some of the higher tier instruments can be placed in the house. Are there any plans to make it possible with these too?

tbh i think these things suck in a big way there is no point to any of them imo they should be used by bards maybe to improove their stats or provide some functionality like being able to play them or place them in rooms or infact anything usefullk with the things lol

I hadn't noticed that.... They're great for writs and tasks though, because they have lots of builds and pay out well.

I was watching a game review program on the g2tv channel.
They were interviewing a guy (think he was the head) from the EFF. He said that one of the major MMORPGs right before launch came to them and asked if music created in-game by players that mimic'd copyrighted materil could be used in a case against them.
The EFF said it was very likely. The company thanked them and said they would strike that feature from the game.
So there (maybe) you have it.

Did I just read that last post right.
No instruments in game, cause else SOE needs to pay taxes over the music ingame played by Bards?
Thats a rather good one :D

I think you are referring to a djinn's mandolin?
That's not a woodworker item, that's a tier 6 carpenter item.
It's furniture. Nothing more, nothing less.

Hmm.. Having seen American pie a few too many times, asking "what do you do with a flute" drudges up some fairly inappropriate answers :P

The only "instrument" that can be placed in the house is the djinn's mandolin; it is a level 54 carpenter recipe. It is solely a furniture item and has no function as an instrument, but that is still more than any of the other crafted instruments can do, lol... really wish they'd add some functionality to them, but currently there is no reason to make them except for the tradeskill xp.

Hehe, this was a very old thread Troodon... at some point some instruments could be placed I believe, but that had to be something that was taken out long ago.

Halfling drum (T2 carp recipe) can also be placed.

Forgot about that one, lol... yep, the halfling drum, a level 13 craftsman recipe, can also be placed.

Didn't notice until just now how old this thread was... it was up near the top... I guess this isn't exactly the most active forum, lol. Didn't know the other instruments used to be placeable; must have been very long time ago, because when I first made them for sake of skill they weren't placeable at the time. Personally I think they should be, if they're not going to give them any functionality for bards. I still remember when it was mentioned as a trait of woodworkers that they crafted instruments for bards... which technically they still can, it's just the intruments don't currently have any functionality.

I've been playing since the christmas after release (about a month after release) and I've never been able to place the standard instruments. I'd bet that either they were never placeable or it was a beta thing.
I don't know, just making an educated guess.

Hmm.
It might have been a beta thing. I do know that it was a long time ago. Or maybe my memory is just bad and they were never placeable. /shrug
What does matter is that they have little use now, which is still a shame.

up until lu24 they had a GREAT use - they had TONS of subs and therefore were worth bank on writs. The drums also used no roots, so there was good money to be made ;)
