View Full Version : Maybe this is a dumb question...

...but searching throughout the forums didn't provide an answer that I could see.

But, in EQ1 if you weren't an Enchanter, you were at a significant disadvantage if you wanted to study Jewelcraft. sure, you could get around it, but sometimes it was very difficult to get an Enchanter to cast on your metals for you.

What about in EQ2, though? Do metals need to be "enchanted" by some spellwork, as before? Or, is it all in the crafting?

I'm not totally sure, but with the few rings and earrings I made in the beta, some of them had stat modifiers on them (strangely the normal ones had
more/better ones than the few pristine ones I managed).

The idea is that no one class will have an advantage or a deadlock over any one tradeskill, ala enchanters in EQ1.

There are some racial traditions that seem to affect tradeskills, but they're not available until the higher adventuring levels (20+ I believe) and are therefore probably not going to be critical/super-important.

So, then the answer is "No, there aren't any 'Enchant Metal-type' spells in the game, castable only by Enchanters (or whatever class)."

Is that right?

There is no 'enchanted' metal like there was in EQLive. The stats were based upon the stone and the quality of the ring.

As of end of beta - nope.

Artisan classes are not dependent on adventurer classes.

You could be a 50 artisan and 4 or so adventurer.

Ah, good! Thanks guys...

If I can't tinker an oxygen mask for underwater breathing, then I guess I can make shiny jewelry to give to all the Elvish women who fall for my Gnomish charm!

:D :D :D

Hmm. Don't you mean make shiny jewelry to give to all the elvish women to charm them into falling for your Gnome? ;)

You may not be able to tinker an oxygen mask for underwater breathing, but woodworkers can make totems that have a charge of enduring breath on them

The important question is.. are all high end components tradeable?

As far as we know yes. THere was not really testing past 30, but there is absolutely positively NO reason for them to change it in the tier 4 and 5 zones. Especially since it would make them liars :)

It might be really cool if they made some of them attunable tho. At least I think it would be really cool.

*edit* the end product I mean, not the droppable components.

Some crafted items are attunable, tho I've only seen this with rare components.
