I was heading over a friends house tonight for dinner and saw the brightest northern lights I've seen since moving here 10 years ago. It was a shimmering neon green that lit up a third of the night sky. Just wondering if any other Northerners happened to see them.

You know, this is going to sound immature, but I really thought this would be an advertisement for an EQ2 guild. :)

I like Northern Lights too. Didn't see them though. I live in Toronto where there is way too much light pollution 364 days of the year, the 365th being that day when the entire Eastern seaboard goes down in a massive power failure and we rediscover stars.

Heh, sorry to disappoint. Not a bad name though....of course it would remind me too much of a casino by the same name here in MN. :)

I live a little farther south than you and I unfortunately didn't see them. Wish I would have. Only seen them once in my life and I have been living in MN the entire time.

Hey, no worries, I'm not shopping for a guild anyway because I've got my old one to return to (see the question about guilds on the thread, if you are wondering) it just seemed interesting. Should be a barbarian guild though.

Hey now, we have northern lights in the Willow Wood too. Actually, they're the lamps near the Eldar Grove entrance, but they are the northernmost lights we have :)

This isn't a marijuana reference? :p

I would love to see the lights in real life. Only seen them on the talking picture boxes before ;)

We never get to see them where I live :( The funnest thing we see is the occasional lunar eclipse, and compared to pictures, I'd rather see northern lights :P

Unfortunately, they are not all that common. The last time I remember seeing them was about 2 years ago. They were just so bright last night it was pretty remarkable. People were standing out in the streets looking up all over town. At times like this I'm lucky I have no street lights in my neighborhood. :)

Saw them here in Grand Rapids MI

was a solid band from Orion north 20 degrees and straight above us. I noticed it was green shade( thinking copper vapors). This one was one of the biggest i have seen in last 25 years. top 6 I think but not as colorful as normal adn oddly it was clear to the north past it.

There was a picture of them in my local paper this morning so I did a quick scan of it:

I live in Northernish Illinois and I saw a little bit of them. It was the first time I've been able to catch them and it was really cool. Kind of gave me a sense of serenity. :D

The newspaper says that due to solar flare activity, we may get to see some more later this week. :)

Keep your eyes to the skies! :D

{whine} Now, if I was back in my hometown in Upstate Nowhere, NY, I'd have an extremely slim chance of seeing them ... once every 10 years or so.

However, down here in Southern CA, I'm SOL.

On our honeymoon trip to Alaska, they weren't really active, due to early fall rains.

Darn, where's someone to port me northwards?

If'n ya happen to head northward (Alaska.. Valdez to be specific) holler and i'll make sure you get the grand tour ;). My folks live there. One works for a Tanker company the other for the Pipeline company :). Sadly they still pay more for gas than most people in teh continental US ;)
