Ok, so once we get to tier3 and lose the light/vlight/weapons recipes, all we are left with is chainmail and vanguard.

Is this all we get to level with? It seems that there is a total of 20 class recipes to work with--the Level 20 refines and from 21-26 we get a whopping 14 recipes or so.

Am I missing something?

(right now I'm making every weaving, timbercraft, geomancy, apothecary recipe just to get the additional discovery xp)

No. You're not missing anything.

Leveling in armorsmithing is a b#$%. There was another thread about this, I THINK it was in either general or primal.

On the plus side, the products usually sell reasonably well as long as there's not too much competition for it (like 4 armorers leveling at once).

From 20-30 it seems to take ~20 final combines (assuming you make all of your own class subs and buy worts/padding/patterns.. probably less if you were doing geomancy/apothecary/etc) to level. I sell 1-2 pieces a day usually of each type of armor I have in stock, between that and what my guild comissions I usually can get rid of everything I made whilst leveling within a week or so.

Although it's tempting to go against this, *MY* suggestion would be to ONLY make things inside your level for skillup purposes unless a client requests something else specifically. In armorsmithing you tend to get a few recipes above your current level, but you'll end up with an excess at the top end eventually. Although you level a bit slower, it's WAY easier to move 20 helms and 20 shoulders than it is to move 40 shoulders.

As it stands now, I'm leveling comfortably (slower than I'd like, but I can make a level every other day or so... one day for subs and one for finals, about 6-8 hours total depending on how actively I'm working on it) and moving most of my supply. If I wanted to go faster I'd probably make the highest level thing I could and vendor sell but that's less profit in the long run.

SFG

Thanks for the thoughtful reply! I just didn't want to miss out on any extra XP that can be had(grammar?).

So far I'm liking armorer alot. I find that it forces far more concentration than many of the other trades, as 2 or 3 missed counters can easily spell death. I've had a few =).

I just wish I had a few rare harvests to work with, to get even more XP!
