I managed to complete my second workshop (not wholesaler) task.. the first one (yesterday) was bugged and didn't work.
This one, 10 dried fayberry, made from ingredients I'd mostly stashed away in my bank.. these are tier 3 ingredients, and a subcombine lvl 24 with main combine 25, so not exactly a lowbie recipe :)
I thought, yay, I've finished it.. went to hand it in.. there was a massive jingling sound... I had 58 silver on me to start with.. I ended up with one GOLD, and 140 silver.. not a bad payout!
My next task is to make some rye malted milk.. and I have about 2 stacks of rye malt also stashed away. let's see if the wholesaler now sells milk :)

I'm not in Beta and have just been lurking here to learn and I'm confused about these tasks. Am I right in saying you get cash, social status, and crafting xp for doing theses tasks?

cash and status within the guild yes. the only exp you get is for creating the items, not handing them in - but as the items you are asked to make are based around your skill level, you should get good exp for them anyway (I got about 17% from doing this task at lvl 25)

The question becomes how much this would have gained you if you had instead sold them to the vendor - have to establish a balance here. :)

the crafted items sell for about 4s each.. and I made 10 of them..
third completed task netted me 1g87s20c..
I may /feedback that this is a little higher than I think is appropriate.. although it's very nice..

Woah..... With quests like that, who the hell needs customers?

Sounds like this will be good for my style, which is crafting mainly for myself and friends, not so much to become a merchant.

And also keep in mind this was using Tier level 3 components to make and it required a level 25 provisioner - so while it seems a lot of cash reward, perhaps it is in line with what the efforts needed to get the components and the higher level as well.
Still probably best to /feedback it as you mentioned just in case it is out of whack.
Anyone done any lower level ones that we can compare the reward to?

I bet you can only do that quest once, am I wrong?
If so then the pay out is nice and should not be adjusted, but if you can repeat the quest again and again then ya, maybe lower the loot for it.

The "quest" is repeatable as the NPC that gives it is giving you tasks to increase the status of the society (read NPC guild).. I haven't been given exactly the same things to make each time, but I wouldn't really expect to - after all another few times of doing this quest would get me to 26 (not that I'll be able to in beta).
Yes, actually thinking of the effort that will be required in the "real" game now to get to 25, perhaps this reward isn't unreasonable - it will certainly take a lot more work to do it now - and I for one am looking forward to it!

Since it goes to the Trade Group, which is black marketing stuff between Qeynos and Freeport, they give a premimum to the crafter making the desired item. The only problem I'm running into is I get reset to my Artesian guild. I think that is bugged currently. Anyone have a level <10 real level do a Workshop quest? Would be interesting to see a level 1 zone payout, level 2 (42sp), level 3(1gp 98sp). It might just be that good of a payout and something to always keep your eyes open for.

Welp did a tier 2 before the patch and got 65 SP.
After that dreaded patch now 36sp for a tier 2 tradeskill job. EXP gained 50% the items I crafted were even to my level of 15 at the time.
Gathering level 2 = 15 sp gathering for level 3 = 48 sp so you know what im doing for money these days.
Tier 4 is probably 3 times that amount due to difficulty of mobs etc... so over a gp when I get there which isnt far away now.

For wholseller quest.. Tier 2 I have gotten 12 sp. For Tier 3 48 sp
Doing crafting quest. I had an order for 10 shaped forged battle axe. Made those 10 and got 38 silver. was a little disappointing for all the work needed. (Iron edge, Letaher Hilt, Iron Studs.. total 10 hides, 20 iron, 60 chemicals 70 fuel units) not really worth it..

as a 22 sage i made 10 Alacrity App III spells for my workshop. they sell to a merchant for 15sp (so 1gp 50sp). The quest reward was 1gp 44sp. this is right in line with what i think it should be. to make Workshop society quest worthwhile. They aren't money makers. but they will let you 'break even' same as selling to a merchant.

What was the cost in making the items?
