Now that everyone can make our quills and paper, and most if not all of our stuff doesn't sell (shields, bows, arrows, etc.), is it worth it to be (or level) a woodworker anymore?
I invite your replies either way.

hmmm. didnt i just see this exact same post in the alchie section???
anyway, my friends that are woodworkers still make steady money selling monk weapons, bows and shields. The recent changes making everything atuneable should even help with sales in these areas.
The secret is to regular sales is to stock all quality lvls. Not just pristine. Crude items sell as well as if not better than pristine.

Yes, it is worth it. My sage has no intention of making quills and paper, unless none is available for a reasonable price. In which case, she will simply ask her Alchie and Woodie alts to make them. :p

No, its not worth it. 45 Woodworker here. Been trying to sell teak products all day. Bows and Shields. No one is buying. I'm even listing a Cedar Buckler and Cedar Longbow for 1p each and no one is buying (cedar averages about 90g each on my server).
If anyone is selling T5 WW items, please tell me what you are getting for them. I am pretty much the only one on my server listing these products. I am basing my prices off comperable quested/dropped loots and T4 items. Not looking to make a fortune but right now I am about to go bankrupt.

I think that just now is a really bad time to dictate item pricing. Everyone I know has been in a tradeskill creation frenzy for the double double exp (counting vitality). Having four tradeskillers, I spent the weekend getting all my alts from 23 to 27, and my main to 32 so she could harvest EL/Zek.
The market is currently flooded with items, and no one is shopping for anything but harvests to level up as well imo. Wait until this weekend, I am optimistic the market will go into an upswing once everyone is back to adventuring.
People who never crafted before in my guild were making tradeskillers lol. One got hers from 3-20 this weekend.

Ok, I'll give it one more shot this weekend.. I'll take your advice and try to put up various levels of shields, monks, bows, etc. If I can't move them this weekend (at a reasonable price), I will probably shut down crafting until the next revamp. Meanwhile heading toward level 32 templar...
T5 i sell mainly
buckler
fighting baton/qstaffs
on ocassion i'll sell a wand or a bow or a 2h staff and maybe a towershield or kite shield
No it's not worth being a woodworker if you want to make money in quills /paper.
All the sages i know (and especially my close friend of 45lvl) have all taken to make thier own stuff. They are having a field day, they can make WORTS and get exp, they can make paper and get exp, they can refine wood and make quills to get exp, they can make ink, a 3x combine and get exp.
The thing is, sages were so desperate for exp they'd combine patterns for free, they'd make deals with alchy's for ink, they'd do anything they could to get exp, since they can only make patterns or combine spells. Now they are having a field day and haven't looked back. I like it of course, my friend doesn't need my assistance and he lvl's faster since he can make his own combines. I've supplied maybe 3-4k paper and quills since he dinged 20 to 45... so i'm pretty sure thats a lot of revenue lost for WW's (i never sold paper and quills, just gave to friend)
From what he tells me the other sages are doing the same.(all the 40+ that is) and all they need is just raws.

Well what I find funny is... with the new "LFW" deal (which I think is very cool btw), anytime I have my alchem alt on and tag LFW, I get tells for work... I have yet to have ONE tell for work with my 31 WW. I have also tried to sell my pristine tower shields for as little as 20 silver... they have NEVER moved. So I finally sold them back to vendor just to make room. Meanwhile my templar is already 33.. and adventuring his little heart out....cheers all and have fun!

Well, I've been playing my alt provisioner a couple of days because I was getting so many tells for work with my 49 WW that it was becoming not-fun. Rewarding, heck yeah! I just need to figure out how to ballance making happy customers (which is important to me) with not stressing myself out.

My woodworker gets almost as many requests as my jeweler and alchemist (alchy gets the most, but I think we all figured that..).
Weaponsmith I rarely get requests for, Armorsmith hasn't logged on since the lfw patch. Tailor is occasional.

I agree with this. On average I have been getting 5-10 rare orders a day. While I am looking forward to being able to imbue all weapons I kinda dread the flood of "can you make me a ..... NOW" tells hehe

The other good seller is fir staves. I've gotten like 5 orders for those in the last week.
Decent cash overall.. netted 10 gold in profit for a 2-step combine off two of them.. other three were for guildies so went for like 5sp each (in all 5 cases, they provided the fir and worts, so I was only out sandpaper.. 5sp covered that for the guildies, and 5gp each more than covered it with the other two)

My alt is a 30 Woodworker .... its hard to say if its worth it honestly.
Levelling from 27-30 was a nightmare, by far the worst xp rate gain of any tradeskill class (I have several alts) - making white con shields which require 12 sub-combines each only gives you 1% xp for pristines and take forever - you can make paper but thats only 0.2% xp for pristines at 29.
Quills and paper sell for so little on my server that my sage sometimes just buys them on the market - its not even worth it for my woodworker to make them (briarwood quills and kozo paper can be had for 10s/ea).
I never get orders for bows and weapons and even selling at a loss I havent beem able to sell all the shields I made to level out of T3.
The ONLY thing I was able to make for a decent profit was Fir Staves and now they're removing that requirement from the quest in Update 6 so that will be gone.
You have 2 saleable items in the end - Wolf totems at lvl 31 and then the 1-handed wands you dont get until the end of each tier. Thats pretty much it.
I would re-spec to something else in a heartbeat, I consider choosing woodworker the worst choice I've made in this game.

I'm a lvl 27 Woodworker. Gotta say I love it. The first ts class I did was weaponsmith (up to level 34) I couldn't cut much profit, most of the time the selling of what I made would just pay for my next few combines/level dings. I did weaponsmith from day one though, so you would have to keep in mind how much harder it was for everyone in comparison to now. With my woodworker, atm I'm swimmin' in money. I'm on mistmoore server. For a while totems were going steady for 1gp (viper and snow bear) recently more woodworkers jumped into the mix and now its 40sp per, but still a nice profit (just not a nuts one ehhe ) on weps and such i find i sell cudgels, wands and long bows very well. To me, very well is two a night of wich ever i made. The bucklers allways sell i tend to make 10 of those a week and sell through. The towers DON'T sell. There are to many better ones dropped. BUT the Kite shields sell very well, 1gp per and never stay on merchant more than a night for me ( i only make 2 at a time)
a lil bit of info for the peeps who like to make the weps. ( miffed me a bit honestly) Our T3 cudgel (reg not imbued, pristine ash cudgel) Is still a yellow con wep to a lvl 29 bruiser . . while my lvl 28 weaponsmith wep i made for him . . . .some sorta fist wep i can't recall, is blue con. So our weps, though few, DO have a little edge to make up for it. I'd imagine imbuing the reg old pris ash cudgels could cut a decent profit. :
