actually its very very simple ,
1st , play an adventurer this will be where 99% of your time is going to be spent . learn to enjoy it and always keep a smile on your face.
2nd , choose a tradeskill that has as little bearing as possible on your adventureing profession and can be used the most often. i would recomend provisioner or carpenter since you will use these skills alot more then any other unless you made a rogue class.... then go alchemist possible
3rd , this is the most important step , join a society thats the highest level possible and ONLY level with the society. since the value of items made above this level is lower then those made below it , jsut stay below it.
4th , pray to whatever gods you can find to fix the current system and always remember to do your daily /bug report
