View Full Version : Voodoo Dolls?

From a dev post on changes in the works, he (or she) mentioned tailored voodoo dolls. I think used to debuff an enemy.

Sounds similar to totems in a way. Sorta cool. But I doubt will have a great impact on tailoring or combat. Anyway, any thoughts on this?

I think the voodoo dolls will be just as popular as potions are right now, and how many potions are sold over the market? barely any, if any at all

/em sees glass as 1/2 full...

I think they could not have a negitive impact on tailoring and there for are a good thing.

Even if it JUST ment that I would have a few more recipes to get 1st combine exp oon and I make 1 of each and use them myself.

We can only hope they make posions/potions better and then do the dalls along the lines of the then "fixed" potions/posions.

While I haven't gotten to make any yet, I just got my books and was looking at some of the voodoo dolls. I have to say these things actually look awesome. On top of giving stats, some of the clicky effects are nice (such as 22-26% slow). As a conjuror who duos often with a wizzy, since we have no form of healing the damage reduction a clicky slow would add would help us tremendously. Also (and don't hold me to this) I didn't see any kind of charge counter for the dolls, which leads me to believe they have unlimited charges. Now really, what non-slowing class wouldn't love to be able to slow every mob they encounter 25% for free?

Have to say you're dead wrong on this one, Siddasyo. I made a T2 rare doll today, linked it in the crafters channel and got two offers on it right away :)

It was the rare caster version (forget the name right now), has unlimited magical debuff uses and adds +9 INT in an activatable slot. I'm thinking these have potential to be solid gold.

I assume they are nice too. Hey, you get some nice stats for your things in your activation slot. IMHO clicky-effect is a minor one ... 8sec casting time during a fight is ridiculous. Could be useful for pulling though (str-version reduces attack speed)

take a look at http://www.mutschler.de/eq2/T4_dolls.jpg for picture of the shaped versions of the T4 dolls. I think they have great potential.

Too bad you need to be level 49 to make the T5 dolls ... long way from 43, but now I have a reason to level beyond 45 ...

Being a Mystic and a tailor, the voodoo doll with the "Slow" caught my eye last night.

I am almost certain that "slow" is a version of snare, effecting movement speed not attack speed. There is a different doll for an attack speed debuff of less then 10% which seems more realistic (Mystic attack speed debuff for me at level 27 is 12% for Adept 1 version).

Yea, I got to take a longer look at the dolls the other night and saw that one says "slows target blah blah %" and the other days "reduces attack speed of target blah blah blah %". The high percentage was the "slows" (ie snare) and low one was the slows attack speed. So, uh, ignore my previous post praisng the hex dolls. Not saying this makes them complete crap or anything, but it was definately a lot better when I thought there was a 25% attack speed reducer.

Also, as Nukem pointed out, an 8 second cast time is terribly long. I'm only in my 30s adventure level wise, but most mobs I fight that don't have ^^ arrows don't even last much longer than 8 seconds in a group. They're still good for pulling, especially if 4 people in your group each have a different one and start casting at the same time. This would take more coordination than the average group has though. :)

I posted some screenies in my thread.

I like em, possible +12 to 2 different stats or +24 to one stat. They dont "grey out". spells can be cast while moving. Altho I havent used em in combat yet, they offer yet something else in combat. sure most mobs dont last 8 secs but the tougher raid mobs can and seems like you can use the spells for pulling too. after all, it is mana-free :)

I made the attack speed reducer doll for myself to use. Since I'm only level 35, I could only make the T3 doll and now that I have it, I rarely if ever use it. The spell is probably 80% resisted in Zek and EL. At least in my experience.

Planning on trying again at 39 for the higher tier doll. But it becomes somewhat difficult to make for your own use when the recipe is at the end of a tier. Great if you are a low level adventurer with a high crafting skill. Singnificantly less useful if are approximately 50 / 50 like myself.

There seems to be some sort of Lvl cap on the mobs the dolls will affect. I have a T2 slow doll and it WILL NOT stick on any mobs over 24. I need to do some more testing on mobs around lvl 20 though to check.

Dolls.... How um, well, fairy like. I made about 40 rare ones this weekend and sold them all. I made quite a hual and I did not even start on T4 yet. I had been buying all the cloth type rares for a long while when I saw them for cheap. Now they are paying off in a big way. These dolls are really quite nice to have. I solo a lot. I do notice the 6-9% slow but it is very minimal. What I really notice is the stats. Increasing my Ranger's power pool with 2 AGI dolls is nice. The effect is nothing to even be concerned with. These dolls are designed to be for solo people. 8 cast time can only be for pulling unless you are a Conjurer who sends the pet in and then starts their cast on the dolls. I will say that the agro gained on using these to pull is a big hit. They generate a lot of agro right off the bat.

Mostly the armor and weapons were the best things you can imbue. Weapons the most. That extra Proc is really nice. Also for solo melee players the dolls are sort of useless. Casters will find them to be much more useful.

I do think that the effects are a little too wattered down but add in the free stats for the item and they are way worth it.
