You're buying items and don't even know which item is the primary in the recipe you're buying them for? A little bit of research in the database portion of this website will help you if you REALLY want to know.

As far as I know all of the primaries for our Woodworking recipes are some form of wood. This goes for everything refine, interm and final.
Everything you have listed is secondary.
I am 30th and have done almost all of the recipes up to that level with perhaps the exception of a couple of bard instruments.

Dependent on Weaponsmiths for Hilts and Spikes (Boiled Hilts, Carbonite Spikes)
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
It's more like ...
Dependent on Alchemists for Oil, Resin, Wash, and Tempers
Dependent on Carpenters or Jewelers for Sheets, Struts, Shods, and Studs
Dependent on Jewelers for Ornaments, Faceted Gems
Dependent on Tailors for Stretches of Leather, Straps and Cords
Dependent on Weaponsmiths for Hilts
None of these are primary, BUT...
Carpenters need us to make pristine planed lumber as their fletching skill diminishes with each tier, so we have something worthwhile to trade to them.
Jewelcrafters need nothing we make, so we can only buy from them.
Same goes for tailors
Weaponsmiths need pristine staves to make certain weapons, but often they can level and prosper without even seeing a stave, so trade is unlikely unless they're going for discovery XPs, which means it's doubtful they need even a stack of them.

Simply examine your recipies. Whichever component is listed first is always primary. :)
Anything not listed as YOUR primary component can be as low as crude in quality and not affect the quality of your final product.
