OK I have taken some time off of my alchemy lately since the App4's have been put in, and a bit before even.

I understand the concept of the App's. App 1-4 corresponds to the level of the end combine and can only be achieved if the ink is pristine if you want an App4.

What about rares and Adepts.

There are no player made adpet 1, 2, or 4's. Correct?

If so, does it matter how you refine the rare? Can you bottom out the most basic conversion, stop the ink at the first combine of crude, and still get an adept 3 when you make the final product of the spell/power?

I.E. is making adept 3's the same way it was pre-patch?

Thanks!

Made 2 Adept 3’s couple days ago. Each bar read Adept 3. I still made them all Pristine though, because quite frankly paying 8-10g each for the rare item I would rather bargain on the safe side.

In theory though it looked like a crude would make an Adept 3. But again, why risk it just make all combines pristine. Not like your going to crank out stacks of Adept 3s at a time.

Thanks, that is what I hoped/thought.

Of course I will attempt to make pristine, ink, but if I don't, I wanted to be sure of the possible repercussions.

Plus I am not a sage so I wanted to make sure the sage I gave it to was aware of the need for pristine or not.

Makes me feel much better that there is no chance the rare will be wasted on a not pristine combine on any step of the way.

Your investment is safe :) You are guaranteed an Adept 3, just make sure the person scribing it for you picks the right spell and you are all set. If they want pristine exp, then that's their own problem.
