My character, Hydenseke, who is a lvl 43 carpenter on Crushbone, keeps a little house in Qeynos Harbor. I've put alot of time, thought and cash into making it to my own taste, and having *just about* reached that point (because there always seems to be something else I need to do, lol), well, I felt it was time I might make a show of it.

So if your so inclined to take a gander, here's a little tour for you...

Very nice home Hydenseke.

I have one question for you, though. With all that furniture, what's the gold and status cost of your house? ^^

Well, I'm sorry I can't help you on the status point thing, as I went with cash-only for the simple reason that by paying a mere 2 gold extra per week, I don't have to worry about status. Honestly, there's like no incentive right now to go status over straight cash at all. It gets worse the higher priced places you go, really. If I can afford a place for 6 plat and 60gp a week, why would I take the same place for 4 plat, 40gp a week and ...200,000 status points, lol. They really thought out their economy, didn't they? Fact is, if I can afford 40gp a week, I can afford 60 without much more effort. Now, if you add up all the time and effort it would take to even put a decent dent in the status rent, there's no way it's going to beat out paying 20gp extra a week, nevermind the possibility of something going wrong with your status points, losing your guild or whatever.

So while I understand why you're curious as to what furniture can do for status reduction, I think the better question is: why is status vs. cash so brokenly imbalanced?

I believe my rent is 6gp a week, though :p .

Wow I had never checked what was the cost of homes at QH. That's really nice :D

I'm gonna start considering getting a house in there as I have money but not status. Thanks for the information handed, Hyden :)

One thing to note about housing costs, too, on the Qeynos side of things.

The exact same 2-room apartment layout is used for QH, NQ and SQ. QH, having access to a bell right there, charges the most. SQ, with a bell 1 zone away, charges the next highest amount. NQ, being 2 zones away from a bell, charges the least.

I have my home in NQ now, and it can be inconvenient at times, to make the run to restock my vendor. However, oftentimes I make sure I have a good stock of fuel and such stashed away, dump off the new goodies at my vendor, then scurry to the other end of NQ and craft up *more* goodies at the Ironforge Exchange. :) That having been said, in hindsight, I wish I'd gone for a place in QH.

When you're ready to get a bigger home than the 1-room place, you'll have to decide which you want more -- convenience or thriftiness.

Very nice place! I especially love your sentimental piece =)

Niami you can always keep a "storefront" and maintain a home =P I actually have a wharehouse to stash things in that I dont want to clutter my home =)

I actually find my NQ home fairly convenient. I'm still only 2 zones from everything:

NQ->SQ/EG (1 zone)
NQ->Tradeskill instance (no merchant, though) (1 zone)
NQ->Down Below->any other Qeynos burg (2 zones) (and the DB entrance is right by my inn in NQ... in fact, it's faster to take the DB to the Grove than it is to walk across town)
NQ->Antonica (1 zone)

The only "slow" trip I have is to the griffin tower in Antonica; it's either 2 zones + a bit of running or 1 zone + lots of running... and only the mid-priced SQ housing has it better, the "expensive" housing in the harbor is no quicker.

For the serious decorators, though, I think you need to go with the expensive housing. NQ only has one upgrade option: a slightly-nicer looking "oak" instead of "willow". I can't use the nice parquet floors that the Fish's Ale House residents get.
