View Full Version : Confused About Tradeskill Writs and Status

I've gotten a tradeskill writ and am collecting stuff to complete it.

The posts on this thread talk about gaining status doing these writs --- apparently in the 1000 - 5000 range.

What status is this? Personal status, guild status or something else? If it's personal status, do you get any guild status? City writs give both.

Folks also say that status from a tradeskill writ depends on the the level of your guild. Does that mean if your guild is level 3, you will get less status than if your guild is level 10?

Does society level play any role in status gained from completing tradeskill writs? I have status points in both my wholesale and... ummmm... the other one... societies. Is this status part of personal status, or completely separate?

Man, I wish there was a Status FAQ somewhere... if there is, point me to it :)

Thanks

The status mentioned is both personal and city status. When you do a city writ, tradeskill or otherwise, you get a status reward in accordance with your guild level. The higher the guild level the higher status reward you get. The are basically Kill X mobs for normal ones, or make X items for tradeskill writs.

I do these as a 24 Paladin in Thundering Steppes. My guild leader is 31 provisioner and does writs for tradeskills. Our guild is level 3 currently and I get about 1700 personal status per writ. The guild gets about 70 status in my name per writ. I have heard rumors that this is calculated by dividing the personal status by the number of patrons in the guild. We have 24 patrons so 1700/24 = 70 does seem to be accurate. Tradeskill writs will also reward you coin to help defray the costs.

The guild uses stats like the player uses XP. The higher the status the higher the guilds level. We dinged 3 as a guild when I completed a writ that put us around 8750-8800 status. If you look at your in game guild tool you will see what is basically an XP bar with the guilds level on it. You will also see a column that shows you everyones current contributed guild status. There is a bug that leaves this blank if your contributed status is greater than 1000.

You can spend your personal status points to buy stuff at specific city merchants. You can also use them to buy higher level items (horses, houses) for less cash than you would pay for them normally. What you see available to you to buy is determined by your guild level. At level guild level 3 there are a few minor items available. At higher levels you can buy stuff like tradeskill interfaces (forge, oven, etc) that you can put in your home/apartment to do tradeskills there. You need to be fairly high to get an interface that allows you to make Pristine items (and they will sell you lesser versions that don't).

You can get a city writ for tradeskills from the NPC standing by the fountain in the courtyard at the Ironforge Estate in North Qeynos. I am not familiar with Freeport so I cant give you directions from there.

I hope this helps.

It can get pretty confusing. For some added clarification ...

Society "status" is a totally separate critter from guild status, and currently only affects the level of the aplicable tradeskill society. They also don't count for your personal, spendable status (that is displayed on your persona sheet). Your society status seems to do ... nothing ... for you, personally.

The city writs for tradeskillers are only for those who are guilded, and count for personal status. They also count for guild status *if* you're marked as a patron for your guild. Status points are then spendable at the various City Merchant vendors, as well as, at guild levels 10 and above, mount vendors and certain housing. A full list of what can be purchased at which guild level can be found at: http://eqiiforums.station.sony.com/eq2/board/message?board.id=gld&message.id=4308

Actually, I have run many society "quests" and now find myself paying only 18% commision to broker when I am there. Dunno if it is for every broker as I only buy things fromthe TS broker. But it is not the norm 20%. I do not know if this is personal or if it is the same percent for everyone in that society.

What is the level of your society?

Well I will definitely have to check that out.

Just wanted to post my feelings on the TS writs. I do not do them on my spell makers, it is not worth the time or effort. However, my woodworker and tailor benefit quite nicely from them. I also found the best time to do them is when you are an even 0 level. At 20, you get to make level 19 items, still great exp and nice payment. My woodworker one time had to make 10 vanilla cakes, 1g 8s, four writs leveled to 21 and earned enough for all my books.

I will take back my comment, seems something changed and I am back up to 20% on broker now. I cant say for sure that it was the big patch that changed it, but i know i was at 19% before it.
