Ngreth and Niami --

I used EQTC extensively while playing EQ and was delighted to find that you two were going to launch a TC site for EQ2. I expected the new site to be fairly skeletal and rudimentary at this point, so when I came here the first time a couple of weeks ago, I expected nothing more than a few unorganized forums.

Now that I'm here ----> Wow! I've got to say that I'm utterly amazed at how useful, entertaining, and polished the site is already. I'm also delighted at the sense of community that's already forming up among the beta artisans and their future colleagues.

Nice job!

</fulsome praise>

Thanks for the warm fuzzies.

For the record, I'd really rather not ever go through the process of dealing with a several thousand tradeskill recipe expansion while simultaneously beta testing a second game while trying to get my brain wrapped around how which what would be on the second site while also dealing with that thing called real life and so on. ;)

That having been said, the community that's been growing here has been great, and really kept MY enthusiasm and spirits up, even when I've been pretty exhausted by it all. They're a great group of folks and I hope it sets the tone for EQ2TC.

This past week we (Ngreth, really) got http://eq2.eqtraders.com up and running, and while he's working on navigation and the database entry and query coding, I'm slowly getting other filler in place. It's going to take time before it's very fleshed out, but we're getting there. With the help and input of the community, we should get up to speed pretty quickly.

/cheer for eq2.eqtraders!

If there is anything I can do to help (that's relatively low intensity, I won't pretend to have gobbs of free time) I'd be more than glad to help. I'll be in line when you call for volunteers and such.

Ditto to Vals' statement

YAY EQTC!!! I don't envy the full time job you've given yourselves, Denmom & House Ogre - I gave up playing EQLive when I got into beta, can only manage beta & RL..

If there's anything I can do to help, let me know..

Just echoing Ariadne and Val's posts...been on this site since I saw the announcement on the SoE boards way back in June. Will be glad to help however I can.

Dang! I wrote a long and eloquent post basically saying how happy I am you are going to continue your personal efforts with EQ 2 and how ashamed I am to not have supported you financially as I have other "homegrown" sites. Told me I was not logged in and I lost it

Bottom line: thanks for your support of the EverQuest community to date, and if you offer some form of premium EQ 2 service, I will be sure to contribute.

You know Mum...

There are alot of us who appreciate your work and would be very willing to get/test information that you need to free up some time so that you can work on other things.

How about a Den Mum Quest Forum...... you define what needs to be done and we go out and report back. With all the single focus tradeskills we all will have to not only support each other with items but testing etc.

I can see it now... Den Mum needs to know the combine for a "double chocolate brew"

Or how about a "fashion show area" with the "so called" no adventure clothing that should/maybe coming out.

Again, we appreciate what you and the House Orge are doing and are willing to give back to you with our assistance.

p.s. I can brown nose with the best of them if required....

I would definitely participate in such a thing. Structure helps me share. :D

Just listing every recipe in the appropriate class forum with as much detail as known would be a large help. Crude through Pristine or any variation there of. Recipes and listing of whats in each book is important too. Whatever you can provide would help fill the database.

Also, stats, weight, other attributes, descriptions - in short anything you can would like to see about something from the game. :D

only problem with posting dmg stats on items you cant use will be incorrect so if yoru class cannot use it dont post smg stats my cleric made a weapon for a friend warrior i told him stats he said thats ok then when i linked him the item and saw the true stats he was amazed

I've said this many times to the EQTC folks, so now you get to hear it too.

Without you folks, I'd have given up and closed up shop. So, there'd be no site without all you folks helping me keep things in perspective and reminding me of the fun in it all.

Now, as far as offers of help go, once we recover from the chaos of getting everything going at the same time we're beta testing, etc., we'll get up a database submissions/update forum for folks to provide stats, recipes, spawn info, prices, etc., etc., etc. Then, trust me, you folks will be able to help.

The other thing that truly helps a lot is to remember your patience and hold onto it tightly as folks come screaming in here asking questions, even when it's covered in the FAQ (once that's fleshed out) or already on the site, etc. Help out with questions where you can, try to head off folks making threads flammable in forums other than Primal Scream (and folks pushing things over the edge in there), and it really does help. A LOT.

The next few weeks are going to be rough - folks are going to have a lot of questions, and we're going to have a TON of stuff to do to get the answers that they need onto the site - items and recipes into the database, guides and FAQs in place, etc. The demand is going to be higher than our ability to respond to it. How you folks respond to all the "new" (good grief, you're no longer newcomers! ;D) folks in the forums over the next few weeks will make a huge difference in our community in the long run.

Now, if you'll excuse me, I got 3 hours of sleep last night before going back in to test stuff (the last several bugs go in email to Beghn, as I was rushing too much trying to get things made and tested to fill out /bug's on them all). I was basically testing until 10 minutes after the stated deadline, then had 2 minutes to run out to Antonica to say g'bye before beta closed.

{crawls into the nearest pack and passes out for a bit}

I wasn't much of a tradeskiller in EQL. When I did get interested and asked friends/guildies where to go for info it was a screen full of EQ Traders answers.
I'm looking forward to EQ2 and really trying the tradeskills this go around. There is much appreciation for all the hard work put into making this site what it is and in essence making my playtime more enjoyable with the knowledge gained. It seems to be a good community here and one I'll be proud to be a part of.
Rest up this weekend and we'll be glad to help in any way we can.

*bakes 'Mum a bit of fudge to make up for stealing the one batch earlier, and makes Ngreth a bunch of, what was it? Spicy Halfling Toes? (*shudders, and gives thanks for Healer-type regen*) It's a great site, and I hope to be able to contribute to it, in one way or another, at some point. Thanks for all the hard work!

*hugs to 'Mom and Ngreth*

You have already made me feel very welcome, both in beta and on this site. I was somewhat in awe of y'all before I got here, and although I *still* am somewhat in awe, it's tempered by warm fuzzies :)

EQ Traders corner has always been my guide when it came to tradeskilling on EQ1, and although I never used to post on the forums there, I'm so glad I've been able to contribute here :)

Nice to be in on something "at the beginning"...

I also have used EQ Traders for years in EQ1. I was very happy to see a new site for EQ2. The community here always has been a friendly and fun bunch to chat with :)

I love the crafting in EQ2 so plan on doing it quite a bit. Thanks for such a wonderful site.

/hugs the Denmother

I'll be contributing as much as I can in EQ2. I used the information from EQ1 quite extensively and found it extremely helpful but showed up too late to really contribute to it, and then was never on the cutting edge of development to the point that I could add anything. Whatever I can do now, however, I'll be glad to do.

Advice to anyone posting on the forums or responding to the flood of questions the Denmother is anticipating. And believe me, I've had to take this advice myself in different contexts. If people are asking stupid questions, being rude, unreasonable, or demanding, or are otherwise saying things that frustrate you and probably frustrate many other people, respond to them politely and help them to learn better habits. They will either learn soon and become productive members of this community or they will move on and go away, or if they are extreme malcontents they'll probably be dealt with by the admins. But never get into flamage or take out your frustrations on the posters. I know that advice is much easier to give than to take, which is why I add this caviet. If you can't deal with them politely, just don't answer at all. Leave it alone. Someone else will get it. That's the most important thing to realize, for those of us who feel some obligation to answer questions whenever we can. If you can't answer without getting pissy, just skip it until you are in a better mood.

Anyway, take care, and I'll try to pick up my end as much as I can when it happens also.

I want to add my thanx and amazement. I started reading these boards four weeks ago. I never played EQLive but have played SWG, Horizons, and Anarchy Online. The information at this site has really helped me come up to speed since my guy finally convinced me to play EQ2.

Such amazing progress made in a month - my respect and admiration to all of the tireless beta testers.

Now I'm off to try and figure out what my artisan subclass will be. For the first time I'm having major trouble deciding. Decided on my adventure classes already (I usually have three characters - they're all sisters :) Hehe I'll start all three out then park two of them probably for a good long while (that way they get to keep their names).

Hope to someday meet all of you in game - and thanx again!

I've said it before in another post and I'll say it again. Mum and Ngreth, the work you do here and on EQTC boggles me sometimes, but tradeskilling in EQ and EQ2 is and will be a better place because of it. I know we do a lot to help out (data entry, Q&A, etc.) but you're the ones paying the bills and putting this massive horde of information into a manageable working website. My hat's off to you both and to everybody who helps out (financial, physical, emotional or otherwise).

And Niami, if you guys find yourself in Kansas City sometime, look me up. I know some steakhouses that would even fill the belly of a House Ogre ;)

/salute

Cheers to DenMother, Ngreth, the rest of the EQ II Traders staff and the community!

EQ Traders was a second home for me in EQI and EQ II Traders already feels like a home. :)

Cheers :)

I have loved growing and learning with this site and see many more years spent with everyone

This has also made me wish I paid more attention when I played EQ but SWG pulled me in before the full addiction I guess but no stopping that now ;)

Thank you Ngreth and Niami :D

I've been away from EQTC for a while and the last time I was there, the Den Mom and the House Ogre were saying that there was categorically, no-way that there would be an EQ2 Traders Corner site.

So when I finally got back and found a link to EQ2TC ...

:D

So a big thank you to Den Mom and the House Ogre for taking such a huge plunge - again !!!

... and as soon as my little dwarven legs can get me to a forge, I'll be hammering out armour and scribbling down every recipe I can find :)

Hee hee. I didn't know about that. I took a huge break from EQ1 also and when I got here it was a natural place to look and there was the site, as I expected.

I definitely get the sense they wouldn't be doing this if not for the support of so many people eager to help and contribute, so I'll be trying to pull my weight as well. If folks do their part, and especially take care of some part of stemming the tide of mean people who seem to think the Denmom and Co. are paid employees of Sony responsible for providing a critical part of gameplay rather than volunteers doing this for the love of it, I hope they'll stay happy in this project which they've taken on. It's always sad when someone's labour of love becomes just a work grind, and I hope we can help prevent that happening to them.

Now if only I could make them go to bed instead of doing weekend updates for us.... :)
