Hello there

Can anyone tell me which intermediate materials affect the chance to get prestine?

For example, if i want to make a table. It requires the following components

Planned Elm Lumber
Rawhide Cord
Elm Dowel
Sand Paper

Do i have to make sure everything above (apart from sandpaper) to be prestine in order to make prestine table?

Thanks in advance.

Only worry about the lumber.

If the lumber isn't of the highest quality, you can't make the table the highest quality.

The quality of the other items matters not, apparently. :)

The others are correct, you only need a pristine primary item to make a pristine product, in this case it is the lumber. However sometimes it is worth the effort to make/aquire pristine components for the bonuses they provide to exp. You'll gain more exp using all pristine components than just using a pristine primary component, and if you can make the secondary components you get more exp for making them to pristine than just canceling the combo at crude quality. It all depends on what your shooting for, if you want exp then use all pristine, if you after the cash someone will pay you for the final result then it is in your best interest to produce the build components quickly and sacrifice the extra exp.

Just as another blurb, remember that if you are crafting for a teir-2 society (scholar, craftsman, or outfitter), you must make shaped quality products - they won't accept "normal"/3rd quality or pristine, and they definately won't accept crude.

If you are creating subparts from the bottom up (ie the dowel), it may be in your interest to go for pristine on it - not only will you get more xp on that combine (you get more xp the better the final result), you will also get more xp on the final combine.

I'd be grateful if someone would point me to the source of information on the 'more experience for items made with pristine sub-components.' I have heard this before, but haven't seen any definitive statement regarding the veracity of the statement.
