The patch today changed the plate/ring recipes in the Essentials books to use metalshaping (advanced books still bugged). However, the knowledge used is still Weaponry and the events while trying to make plate/ring are the weaponry events. However, the weaponry buffs will not work and I can't figure out which heavy metal buffs are used to counter which weaponry events. And trying to figure it out is an exercise in frustration with the risk of death.

Yesterday's patch made armoring worse... because can no longer use shapped to make pristine. Todays patch made it worse still.. because you THINK its working and then die at the forge when a major event hits.

I long for the day when the "fix" makes then work BETTER.

/sigh

Also...

bars still use metalworking / weaponry. :(

Yes... the dying at the forge has been tons of fun... Also I think bars are meant to be weaponsmithing and I don't mind buying pristine bars from a weaponsmith if I feel the need. I can still make pristine bars with relatively good success.

I tried experementing and trying to figure out which corresponds with which, but its very difficult because sometimes there is no damage from getting it wrong. So, the only thing to do is *gulp* to see what injures you and mark them off...

Tempering Counter IS NOT Angle Joint
Hardening IS NOT Strikes
Hardening IS NOT Angle Joint

And there you have it.

Hardening has to be Isothermic.
Anneal has to be Angle Joint
Tempering has to be Strikes

I'm going to change the order of my weaponsmithing buffs to correspond to the same on my armoring buffs so I can glance at them (sort of) quickly to know which to hit based on the picture.

Forget it. It doesn't work. I got injured no matter which counter I tried; there are no corresponding counters as far as I can tell. I made seven plates, though, with no deaths. I came close a lot though...

Now the thing holding us back making plates is not the durability and progress bars, its our own health.

On the plus side, only 1 of our buffs use power, so the increased power cost didn't hit us very hard as some others. I had some problems making something three levels above me last night and didn't get pristine, but I can't really complain too much that I have trouble making pristine quality items three levels above me.

same.

I seemed to counter some, but nothing I used worked for Tempering.

Tired of dying :(

awww I came here hoping someone had figured out the corresponding skills. I just died 2 times, and have a bubble of debt  I guess I'll be waiting to finish my task

actually you weren't really countering them. There are 3 different degrees to each type of mishap. The lowest degree I would assume gives a small decrease to success. No way to test this really from what I've seen. I usually don't worry too much if I see a lesser mishap pop up. The middle grade mishap gives a larger decrease to success. There is a noticable increase in failure rates if you miss one of these. Only the highest grade of mishaps do health/power damage. (White Hots, Oil Quench, Extensive Soft Metal, Extensive Hardened metal).
