So I dinged 30 sage finally, and noticed that now I can only make patterns, unlike when I hit lvl 20 and could make the thread AND the patterns, which would give me at least *something* to do from scratch when no ink/paper was up for sale ;)

Is this intended? I thought that once I hit 20+ it would follow the same pattern each tier, meaning what I can make, dependencies, etc. Or was I just bugged in being able to make the thread at 20?

I am pretty sure Sages do not make thread. Jewelers and Woodworkers can make it (although skill is generally low). And of course Tailors.

I have the recipe for tier 3 thread AND patterns, but I also can make carbon ink (though poorly, like 1% pristine rate, so I dont bother) so I'm sure I'm quite bugged. I was stuck at 19 for a while, couldnt get the game to make me a sage, yet it let me scribe all the lvl 20 scholar based books.

You are not meant to be able to create thread and inks, that's it :D

If you study the level 20 books (for the other subclass options in your class - jeweler, alchemist) before making your final subclass choice, you are able to do so, or were apparently - I have no idea if it's still possible. I only wish I knew beforehand because I'd love to at least try to make my own PITA carbon ink... (though others can't make it as good as an alchemist, who gets the better buffs and stuff. :) ) It's hard to find when I need it..... Everyone's making higher tier stuff now I guess.

Trust me, except for being able to make Thylakoid oils etc, you arent missing much :P With such low Alchemy skill, it comes out bad. How bad?

Several times, just for fun, I would link cracked vials of dye / ink in guild chat, items you cant use in recipe's and they had a NO VALUE tag on them :D
