Question about appIV spells and abilities

I understand that on test, scrolls/runes/essences will now be affected by quality level so that pristine crafting yields apprentice IV results. Can anyone tell me how apprentice IV relates to adept I? Are they equal or is adept I still better than the best apprentice?

Adept I on test is only marginally better than apprentice IV, and in some cases you cannot see any difference at all.

At least thats my experience with them, my characters are only level 21, so maybe the gap will widen at higher levels.
