Can anyone tell me exactly what qualifies as a tuber? I assume from the name that they some form of root forage, maybe tier 2? I am up to level 10 now, chose outfitter and see tuber as one of my key ingredients. I did search, but only found one reference to them being difficult to find.

Edit: I can spell when I try. :)
Tuber strands are harvested from roots in the tier 2 zones. But they're hard to get now that food items are also harvested from the same roots. Last night I spent about 3 hours in Antonica trying to harvest tuber strands (and waiting through the crashes) before I finally harvested just one. A few harvests later brought me up to 3 total, which I finally decided was a good enough use of my time before I got suckered into going for another 3 hours.

I see them a lot in Antonica, where are you guys looking for them?

Buz, the problem is that the nodes that hold the tubers only give tubers themselves about 6-10% of the time ... the rest of the harvests from them will be various food forages. Sadly, when they added all the tier 2 food forages, they squinched too many things as possible harvests on those nodes.

Yesterday both me and my helpful boyfriend went out in Antonica and harvested for well over an hour. We went allover Antonica...
We ended up with a total of 5 tubers. *sigh*
We got ourself LOADS of food-items though, and a good deal of wood and minerals.
Maybe I should resign to becomming a cook instead of an alchemist at release. :o
(Naw, I love alchemy. I just hope they fix the harvesting table).

I think it would be useful if they could introduce more plant types for foraging.. separate ones for tubers/roots etc and so people who weren't after the food items could concentrate on those ones..
Why should oranges be plucked from roots in the ground?

I agree I'd like to see them add different types of nodes. Just about every item that comes off Plains Roots in RL does not come off of a root. While I realize this is a fantasy game with room for imagination, perhaps this would be an opportunity to create another type of node or two.

A "bush" node or something would make a lot of sense... Hopefully it gets implemented, or else alchemy and other skills're going to be as frustrating in EQ2 as they were in EQL ;)

I /feedbacked this as well, suggested roots for tubers/veggies and either vines or shrubs for fruits. They have seperate nodes for ores/metals, why not fruit/veggies.
