To preface this - I dotn have alot of time to AFK and sell things - So making TS cash is generaly a make and vendor thing for me. Though i like making Stuff - I dont usualy make things in bulk - cause, i dont really have time/ability to sell it.

That said - Im not sure which Subclass to take. Carpenter sounds cool - and Making furniture sounds fun - But, I dont see alot of ability to make vendor cash here. Woodworker has Turned Ash for Cash / Skill ups with out eating up all my bank slots. But, From what i been told, Woodworkes products dont seem to really hold up to Drops. Where as a Carpenter can make "useful" items that cant be drop upgraded - Woodworkers have a cash cow.

So, Help me out here - as Much as Carpenter looks like fun, im nto sure if Lack of selling time is gonna make it very hard on me to skill up/make cash.

Based on what you are describing your circumstances to be, I would go with the woodworker. You will be able to make interim products others can use, so you will have a market (ash and teak staves come to mind among other things) plus as you said there is always the scraps to make money.

Carpenter, which is my profession of choice, has alot more specialized a clientelle. Mostly guilded folks with a need to get their status point cost rooms less costly , and a few diehards who just LIKE furniture =)

I agonized over this as well, I think reading that carpenters starting at tier 3 need woodworkers to get pristine lumber....clenched it for me. ( if not true, i just shot myself in the foot lol) Picked woodworker, I like to harvest and raw material is cheaper anyhow.

I don't know if this helps anyone or not but when I was leveling up and agonizing over which to pick....i leveled to 217% above level 19 artisan so when i did pick woodworker, made one combine and dinged 21, lost the 17% extra though. I am glad I did since only level 14 and not harvesting yet in tier 3 zones. Course if you can get tier 3 stuff easy that nice level 20 stuff i bet would level ya fast too ;)

I have noticed as well that most crafters dont make household items, which is great for me :) You can make a variety of things while leveling to make your house look neat as well as get that extra experience boost for making something new.

These are things I have found that sold fast for decent cash.

large burlap rug
iron scone
iron chandelier
burlap painting
maple bookcase

and of course maple strong boxes.

I liked to just make like 3 of each for variety ( 1 for me to keep and 2 to sell). Nice thing is you can decorate your house with stuff you plan on selling too so doesnt use back space.

Turned Ash is no longer sellable to merchants so it is not a cash cow any longer.

I feel like a broken record here, but Sony has said that they do not want people making a profit from selling to vendors. You can love it or you can hate it, but regardless that's the way it is. If your plan is to make money from vendor sales, you are destined for disappointment.

If you are not into selling or do not have the time, then go with Woodworker. You'll still have fun harvesting and crafting when you do have the time and there will always be a need for the interim items you will be able to make.

Carpenter is somewhat frivilous from the furniture perspective, but since I am a real life woodworker, making the big items in-game is a refreshing change plain down-right fun! I recenlt made myself a huge bed just to bump up my skill(s) and fill in some of the space in my spacious one room apartment. It is awesome!

I think you will find either rewarding, just perhaps easier to sell as a woodworker than a carpenter.

My 2 cents.

As a carpenter myself, all the fun is in creating that final product and actually marketing it to buyers that buys in bulk. If you don't have the time and want to go the make-->vendor way, I really suggest you looking at some other profession besides carpenter and woodworking such as alchemy.

It's sure not a dissapointment right now, that's for sure.

Those who call carpentry a waste must be happy with bags in their bank.

And my room looks kinda neat when I put extra stuff in it.
