So I am a gnome, and cruising my way to level 20 in my chosen adventurer career. I am wondering if you all think that the bonus to Alchemy that gnomes get at level 18 is worth taking?

I think it is a +5% to your alchemy skills, but it takes up one of your racial traditions.

Is it worth it to take the additional alchemy skill or should I take something else?

It's a flat 5 rahter than 5% I think. I took it, I think it's worthwhile. Not a huge deal but the other choices are fairly underwhelming so you're not missing out on much. In theory it means you will be making objects as if you were one level higher which might help a bit in classes where getting pristine is important.

I am a playing a Ratonga assassin/alchemist and I took the poison play racial ability. I took it more through the fact it fits in with my roleplay of the character, but I do find the extra points better than say a option to turn invisable and not be able to move, or the 2% faster health regen.

In the end choose what you think you will get the most out of.

My erudite picked the one that gave more INT and better power regen...which sounded really cool.

Problem is it's a skill that you cast, that lasts a fixed amount of time, and has a REALLY long recast time. It was kinda pointless.

If I could do it over again, I'd probably do the +5 to chemistry since that toon ended up being an alchemist.

The +5 you get to chemistry is put to your current and max. So you will have +5 above the normal max in chemistry.

My racial tradition option as a barbarian pushed my defense cap up five points and had a significant impact on my AC. Was that worth taking? Definitely. I wouldn't trade that as a tank for a tradeskill advantage, not unless it was huge.
