Let me start this off with this is not a way to level quickly or get rich. There are much better ways to do both. This is about doing 3 things at the same time. Once you get to tier 2 and get workshop quests is were you want to start this. There are 3 main goals we want to achieve here in this order.
1) Level up workshop society
2) Gain EXP
3) Make a bit of cash
I will assume you harvest your own resources since that tends to be the trend with most hard core tradeskillers. This will increase your cash in hand (not profit since the resources do have a value you may not make a profit but you will increase the amount of cash in terms of coins you have) There is another thing that while I don't assume everyone is doing this I know I am and it helps a lot. Have alts for the sub-combines you need. If you have a station pass you can have 8 toons which will cover all but one. If you leave out provisioner then you can make every items on all the others. The down side to leaving out provisioner is you don't get the higher level much needed drinks. Though you can buy them. Even if you don't have a Station pass you have 4 toons which means you can at least cover all of tier 2 and if you plan what you are going to need from which classes for your main class you can get much of the higher tiers as well. If you can make all toons on the same side so you can use the shared bank slot rather than needing someone to transfer items for you. (And in case you are wondering yes I have 2 Station Passes, one for me and one for my Wife since she does not tradeskill that gives me 16 toons to do tradeskills on.)
Getting your task is a matter of going into your workshop society and talking to the NPC at the counter. They will always give you a make 10 shaped ??? where ??? is the item they want. Shaped will actually hurt your EXP but that is ok since we are not going to make 10. I'll use one that I'm currently working on in tier 2 craftsman, Maple Book Shelves.
So where to start? First make a list of all you need. Knowing what you need before hand will go a long way to help make things run smoothly. So in this case I have the following.
Maple Book Shelf
Planed Maple
Refined Maple
Maple
Stroma-resin
Maple or Tuber
Liquid
Candle
Sand Paper
Stroma-resin
Maple or Tuber
Liquid
Candle
Sand Paper
Maple Dowel
Refined Maple

Liquid
Candle
Sand Paper
Iron Strut
Iron Bar
Iron Cluster
eolith temper
Iron or Electrum
Liquid
Candle
Coal
eolith temper
Iron or Electrum
Liquid
Candle
Coal
Ok now you have a broken down list and can see exactly what combines you need to make. So the next step is to get numbers on things
1 Maple Bookshelf
1 Planed Maple
1 Maple Dowel
1 Iron Strut
2 Refined Maple
4 Stroma-resin
1 Iron Bar
2 eolith Tempers
2 Maple
1 Iron Cluster
4 Maple or Tuber (Note We assume Crude)
2 Iron Cluster or Electrum
6 Liquid
6 Candle
4 Sand Paper
4 Coal
Ok we now know how the combines build up and the numbers needed at each combine. Now lets figure out our resource hunting and buy list. To do this we multiply by 20 (Yes 20 not 10)
40 Maple
20 Iron Cluster
80 Maple or Tuber
40 Iron Cluster or Electrum
120 Liquid
120 Candle
80 Sand Paper
80 Coal
The next thing to do is get your resources while you are harvesting you should try to kill some mobs along the way for example just about every Gnoll drops saliva which can be used for liquid grab these up to save on your costs. You'll want to move them to the correct toons. Start by putting the 80 maple or tubers and 40 Iron or Electrum on your scholar. Buy up any more liquid you need and your 120 Candles (you may need to do this is loads if you have low pack space. Since this is 18 slots worth of stuff if you maximize your stacks and in the end if you make all Pristine you will have 4 times that)
Now on your scholar make your Eolith tempers and Stroma-resins. You can do this one of 2 ways.
1) All out - For this I mean use all the stuff you harvested and make as many as you can. This will increase the total EXP gained for the session and will give you a large surplus to use on other projects.
2) Just what you need - Make Exactly the number you need for the current combines. With this make sure you make then number you need in pristines anything lower you can do with as you like (I normally sell them) This will increase your EXP a bit and give you some extra coin if you sell the non-pristine. If you go this way more than likely you will have a large surplus of resources at the end which is not an issue since they can be used for other projects.
Key note here when working on these if your toons doing sub-combines are higher level (by 10 levels over the combine they are doing) the Combine will be grey and in which case going for exp is a lost cause. You can still follow this to get the extra cash from the surplus and have extra supplies for later. This should not be a problem for the most part if all your toons are in the same tier.
So now you have your chemicals give 20 Eoliths and 20 Iron Cluster to your outfitter and have them make Iron Bars. Here is were surplus comes into play a bit. Give yourself 30 Tempers and more than likely will have some extra Iron clusters if you did a major harvest run. This way you can have 20 Pristine Iron bars. If you have the time and want to do it you could even go for 30 for the next step. (Keep in mind doing this requires more resources than your initial count if you harvest extra do this otherwise take what you can get)
Now give the bars back to the scholar to make your Struts (Hopefully this will be the last time you need the scholar since we are trying to cut down the number of times you go back and forth.) Have the scholar make 20 Struts now again you can go for all Pristine which is what I do but keep in mind that you will need surplus if you do not get the pristines every time.
Finally everything that is left should go to your craftsman. From there we start with refined maple and make 40 at least 20 need to be pristine so if you don't get this then work go back and get more supplies if needed and make your pristines.
Next make your dowels make sure to leave the 20 pristines out since you will need them for your planed maple. Again here if you want to get the extra exp and cash you can make sure you have all pristines selling off the "scraps" or keeping them for other projects.
Now make 20 Pristine Planed Maple. While you can get away with less we want to give everyone a chance to be pristine.
Now you are ready for your final combine you will need 10 slots in your packs when you are ready for this. Start with the Society task items first since your lesser items will be used up before your pristine you can waste them on the shaped ones you make. Be sure to stop at shaped. Once you have completed the 10 complete your task and get your money. Now make the other 10 and aim for pristine When you are done if you are lucky you now have 10 pristine maple book shelves to sell (maybe keep one for yourself for all your hard work)
A few final notes, when selling I normally sell any non-pristines to the vendors since I don't feel it worth my time to get them to my traderbot and sell them. If you are working with self harvested resources and as much dropped liquid as you can this should make you a fair amount. You can sell to players though depending on demand the price will not be stable at least with the vendor you know what you will get. Secondly I personally like to use all pristine items in my combines. This helps get me some extra exp in that I have to remake anything that is not pristine and while I can't confirm it I think you get a small amount of extra exp in your final combine if using pristine build items. As I said before the biggest thing is to level up the society. EXP is second which is why you should go for the pristines. Finally you have cash which is why you make 10 extra and sell off any surplus or non-pristines you have. The tightest spot will be when you complete your chemicals because there are 4 per pristine and you will still have a large number of resources for later combines so you need to plan around this. If that means working in stages like make your eolith tempers then have your outfitter make bars then make resins, well then do it that way. The only reason to follow my instructions to the letter is to cut down on the number of times you need to change toons.
