I have a question on a couple of the dropped artisan books -

I have been serious considering weaponsmithing as my tradeskill path for my character. A RL friend said that I would be seriously hosed without locating two books:
Artisan Refining Volume 4 (http://eq2.eqtraders.com/recipes/recipe_page.php?bbi=3900&sb=item&menustr=080040000000)
Artisan Components 5&6 (http://eq2.eqtraders.com/recipes/recipe_page.php?bbi=3909&sb=item&menustr=080040000000)

I've looked over the recipes in these books, and don't see how they are that critical, but as I'm somewhat new to EQ2 tradeskills, I figured I would ask the more experienced and wise if these volumes are something that I really would need or if they are nice to have on occasion, or somewhere in between?

Thanks in advance,

You do not need those books, they are nice to have if you like to have the entire collection but the weapons that you can make withthouse books are obsolete even at your level. You can find better one or quest for better ones. those two books are bragging rights thats about it

No tradeskiller is ever hosed if they do not have any of the dropped books. In any way.

The DROPPED books are nice because they are needed to work with and process the RARE forages. That is ALL they do. NOTHING in those dropped books are for normal day to day use. In fact I HAVE every drop book I can use, even the 1-10, and until just last night I had used the recipes from them a grand total of ONCE. I made a bronze cluster into a bronze bar.

Last night someone paid me 50 silver to make a steel cluter into a steel Cutlass for them. So that is twice in 28 levels of crafting and 25 levels of adventuring that I have used the book recipes.

Hardly necessary. Definately nice to have IF you have found a rare. But not mandatory at all.

Have all books up to Outfitter 19, going weaponsmith tonight/tomorrow.
I have yet to make anything from the dropped books, as I'm still waiting for a reasonable Rares market to open, or to loot one of my own...
(and I will hold it, and love it and call it George.....)
Have gone through the levels quite happily on regular combines, and supplying spikes, packs, threads, paddings etc to folks. Nice to have the set, if anyone ever needs me to, I *can* make the stuff. I just haven't had a chance yet.

IMHO the Rare books are for Twinking. Because all the items are level based and so many Items are questable and it is in a players interest to do the quests for the Items + the exp.. A level 50 player can not really buy uber items and get ahead of your average noob .... Unless he buys a bunch of Rare items and or has someone make him a bunch of equipment from the rare items ... This is basically the way players will be twinking their alts in the future.

IMHO
