IRON SPIKES!
Yes, they are boring, but they are cheap and will get the job done.
I have posted all over the place for these spikes so you all may know this now. An Iron spike consists of:
-Iron Bar = Iron Cluster + Eolith Temper + Coal
-Eolith Temper
-Coal
The whole process costs you 60 CP if you get the clusters yourself, or 90-100cp if you buy the clusters. Scholars and Craftsman both need these.
Options
Sell to vendor - huge waste of resources
Sell to players for 3-6sp
OR Do what I do about 50% of the time, trade them for iron buckles.
Iron buckles are needed for your bacpakcs at lvl 15 and scholars make these. I tried this yesterday:

I cannot tell you how many tells I got. I currently have 3 stacks of buckles and am now, for the moment, totally self sufficeint on tanned leather backpacks.
Even at 15, I still make the spikes, they are still green. I do it when I am either low on cash, or low on buckles, but that wont happen for quite some time. Hope this helps!!
P.S.
Remember to always be in crafter channel when you are crafting. An dalways be kind if someone is asking for supplies. It is terrible when you want to make a backpack and no one will make you buckles.
