While Scholars focus on using their brains, builders tend to use their brawn. Builders are by no means simple-minded, however. They can figure out complex measurements from a simple chair to an ornate set of armor for a city official. Truly beautiful works have come from the most untrained builders who used nothing more than the creative side of their brain.
Battles are always being fought somewhere in Norrath between one faction or another. During these times is when the builder's presence is felt the most. As new recruits join in the fray, a builder can craft them new blades and fit them with armor as well.
"Measure twice, cut once" is a saying that best describes the frame of mind a builder works from as they begin to master their craft. Their brawn is matched by their creativity which is highly visible in their master-quality work.
