Hi, there. I think this is my first post here, but I have been a user of your web site for almost five years now, having leveled several characters in EQ1 to the top in their tradeskill professions, and now working my way through EQ2.

Currently I have a scholar and an outfitter (made the second to help the first make her spells and abilities), and I have just spent the past two hours on this web site trying to break down recipe components for adept 3 abilities and spells. This is so frustrating! Why is it so hard to find the recipe and book for (as an example) cochineal ink, or eolith temper?

I can search for cochineal ink and find numerous recipes requiring the ink. But, at the bottom of each page where the recipe for the ink ought to be, I find only "no recipe."

So I then have to go through every single recipe book, using the "edit" function on my web browser to search for "cochineal." And what do I find? Numerous recipes requiring the ink, but no recipe yet.

I am at the two hour mark for searching the web site for one simple recipe. I did a Google search and also came up with nothing. I know the information is here, but it is so difficult to get to that I feel like pounding my head on the desk--and I haven't even gotten into the game yet to level my scholar up a few levels!

Please, could you simply add a hyperlink to your basic components that leads back to the recipe and states from which book (and which class) it is? What I am trying to do for myself is this:

Adept 3
======
1 cochineal ink
(list components here)
(list recipe for each component here)
1 iron spike (Outfitter Essentials, Vol. 10 -- outfitter-made)
1 raw iron
1 eolith temper
(spent hour looking for this recipe, still can't find it here)
1 coal
1 electrum ornament
(recipe here)
(recipe here)
1 coal (merchant bought)

This way, when I decide to make a batch of adepts, I can begin by building each individual artisan-made component and won't lose track of what I'm doing. But I can't make my simple pages in MS Word til I have the recipes, and I don't want to keep switching in and out of the game (although this is what I am about to do after I finish posing this, because there is no easier way of doing it offline).

And if there is something I can do to help or I totally missed the obvious easy way of finding this information here, please, someone /bonk me on the head and point me in the right direction.

Hugs all 'round,
Suite Song

http://mboards.eqtraders.com/eq2/showthread.php?t=264&highlight=cochineal for the ink. just remember you need the dye recipie from the book above too.

and

http://mboards.eqtraders.com/eq2/showthread.php?t=139&highlight=eolith+temper for the temper.

both found using the search feature on these forums in under 30 secs

As for the main site it is still under construction. /shrug

Actually, Suite, check a lower level component (any artisan essentials recipe) and see if that meets your needs. If so, then what you need to do is provide those rare recipes in the Database Submissions forum. We are trying to get all the data in, but transcribing the recipes from the game takes time, unfortunately.

So, if you and everyone else get those recipes in the forum, then we can better get the DB in shape! Though, as a request, check to make sure it's not already in the DB through the front page.

Thanks, and I hope we'll be able to get you the information you need in the future!

Aye, Suite, we're still getting the recipes in place in chunks and trickles, and it's taking time, as we need to get up to 4 items linked to each other into the db first for the main recipe result, then all the sub-items, then finally add the recipe for it, etc. It's taking time, especially as we and our data entry volunteers get sidetracked by real life, etc. I'll be spending the good part of a few days in a corner of my inn room, transcribing stuff directly from my recipe books into the db, most likely, in order to help get another big chunk of recipes into the db. :O

I will look like a total n00b or dimwit asking this, but what can I do to help? Your web site is indispensible for crafters and I haven't done anything except log in and use it for the past several years. I would be glad to help, I just need to be told what to do (obviously, if someone else can find a recipe in 30 sec and I can't find it in over an hour, I have some sort of finding disability, LOL!).

I will poke around and see what you have, which will give me an idea of what's missing... but I'm still very much the EQ2 tradeskilling neophyte, so if there is something specific I can do to help, let me know. I really will try do help!

Even just posting missing recipes in the "database submissions forum" will help. Especially rare recipes like you were looking for :) The rare recipes are the most dificult for us since we just don't have all the books :)
