field maple?

Where do you get field maple. Regular maple does not work and there are tons of recipes calling for it. No one seems to give me a good answer so decided to ask a forum, thanks ratpoison.

I too would like an answer to this question, I was told by a GM that it does exist under a different name, any ideas?

ummm. Maple is found from any tree node in antonica or commonlands. As with anything else you need to refine it to Maple Lumber before you can use it.

You will need to find a friendly Craftsman to do it as it is one of their recipies.

Unless it was fixed recently (as in stealth patch) Field Maple is not ingame. Maple Scraps DO NOT WORK for Field Maple. In fact, nothing yet tested (and we have tested a lot) works for Field Maple.

So if Field Maple is "In Game, just under a different name", then they need to change that name to 'Field Maple'

To clarify what I am trying to get at.

I put in a petition which stated the following: Does Field Maple exist in game? I would like a yes or no answer.

The reply from GM Findin reads as follows. "The item you are looking for does indeed exist in the game. It does have a different name though as Field is a descriptor not part of the name. We suggest you ask other players or visit our forum for more information, as we cannot provide you with more details.”

(BTW the first thing I did prior to petitioning is ask other players and look online)

So on that note, any advice or opinions would be greatly appreciated.

No kidding, there is Maple in the game. The Maple you get from tree nodes does not have 'Field' in the name. But this Maple is not the "Field Maple" that Alchemists need.

OMG do the GM's have no clue about this problem?!?
When we ask about the tier 3 Plantains being in the game can we expect an answer like "The item you are looking for does indeed exist, however it has a different name as 'Plantain' is not part of the name. Sorry I can't tell you any more than that."

GMs/CS are like MS Techs. If they can't use a search wizard and find the answer in their database, they have no idea...

This is one of many, many things in the known bugs sticky post in the General Tradeskills forum.

While the Customer Service folks aren't "up" on tradeskills, these things are known as /bugs (though you might want to /bug 'em again once in a while), that we've not had an ETA response on.

If, by the way, you run into bugs that are NOT on that sticky bugs list in the General Tradeskills forum, please do post in the thread provided over there with details, so we can get it on our master list. (Always, of course, also being sure to drop a /bug in on it ingame so the devs are also aware of the issue.)

You can find field maple on the wholesale merchants in your society. I still have no idea where to harvest it though. Must be tier 2 anyhow since it showed up when our society hit teir 2.

Field maple is in on Test. Tier 2 Harvest from Fungi. Expect it live in the big patch.

As soemoen else posted you can get it from a Level 10 Tradeskill Society in Mediocre form.

You know, I usually defend SoE, but here they really messed up. The in-game CSRs aren't "up" on anything. They're worse than worthless, as they give out incorrect information like this on a fairly regular basis. They frequently make statements that contradict what the devs or reps say on the official forums.

I would personally advise never asking them any information about game mechanics.

Harvested 2 'field maple' from Fungi last night (after downloading the Jan 06 patch). I thought they were rares as I had never seen them before and was floored when I found two almost in a row. Looked on the broker and saw a few for sale.

Are all harvestable now. I harvested one field maple over the last few days (not sure from what, but definitely near the oracle tower) and several pieces of deer and turtle meat (both trapped from badger dens in Oakmyst).

Yes, Field Maple is from fungi nodes. Looks like a potato in your inventory. To this day I still look at it thinking it's junk from one of the food nodes...

Field Maple is an in-game item, at this time. I gathered pieces of this, from time to time. From Natural Herb Gardens, I believe. I currently have a few pieces of it... Good luck :)

Um, actually, it comes from plains fungi in Antonica; not certain what the Commonlands equivalent is. Natural Herb Gardens are tier 1 nodes on the good side. :)

Plantains are now seen in T3 fungi nodes, just as Field Maple now appears on T2 fungi nodes
