Not knowing how much work is involved for you for either method, I would say the split option. Also, will there be cross-linking within recipes? Meaning can you click on a subcomponent and link to its recipe?

there is :)

Break it up, and I'm glad you're using the outline form for the recipes -- I always thought that was a great change on EQTC. :)

I think breaking it up by sub-class is a good idea... but then again, I tend to like to micro-organize whenever I get a chance. ;)

However, I can also see the other side... as an artisan (outfitter, craftsman, scholar) if you want to skill up quickly, you often don't care *what* you are making, as long as it gives you xp, so you may want to see all of your available recipes together.

Would it be too much extra work to do a link to "All Artisan Recipes", for example, in addition to the sub-menus? That way you could keep everyone happy all at once.

I do like it broken up :)

But perhaps to satisfy both crowds the broken up variety, and then also a button to show a sortable list of all of them (say all the artisan recipes). How much more work would it be to cross link them? I'm not sure how you run it, so I'm not sure if thats feasible or not. I would think so tho :)

I voted for split them up. Not to add more work to you, but what about by tool/skill used as well? You know someone is going to ask eventually so I figured I would put it out there.

Well, the exisitning is that way :)

so it is more a "find how to best link it" after I add code to split it out. :)

On the other hand... if I'm a Sage, I can't make anything that requires me to be a Jeweller or Alchemist, so I wouldn't want to see their recipes in general.

So, how I'd interpret Ngreth's second list would be that "Scholar" lists everything makeable by a Scholar up to level 19, ie before they branch out and including general Artisan. And if I selected "Sage" it would be everything that a Sage (20+) can make, plus anything a Scholar or general Artisan can make. I'd be equally happy with "Artisan" so see everythign 1-9, "Scholar" not to include those but only 10-19, and Sage to be 20+ without anything from 1-19, except that generates a problem if any of the specific class or subclass books provide lower level recipes (which is entirely possible, I'm sure).

My reasoning is that, if I'm looking at a Scholar list, it's no use to me to see Alchemist and Jeweller recipes - because either I'm not high enough, or I can only be one or the other. (Unlike EQ1, I can see a strong argument for level-limiting recipes in the search/listings.)

Could even be an argument for individual personalisation of the site so that we all have accounts where we can tickybox the books that we have scribed, and the default lists are only for those books... but I'm going to pretend I never said that and run away and hide before Ngreth sends the hunters out after me :p

One thing I'd like to see (I may have possibly just not found yet) would be a page or pages which effectively links through to each harvested item, ie a list of harvestables (like the "foraged items" list for EQ1), that we can use to see what we can make from each weird item that we normally just throw out or trade to other people. Could be particularly useful given how artisan xp seems to work :) (I guess we can do the same by searching, though. :D Or I could knock up my own page with the links on. I'll shut up now and stop cluttering the airwaves...)

Check the main page, under the search function and try, for instance, "roots". You can then search for all recipes that use that item.

Another thing that might be considered is breaking up the final levels by tier, sothose lists don't get too long. Just a thought. :)
