View Full Version : Chance of Success - Adept3 at level 11 Scholar
Well, I have foraged a cluster of Silver after hours and hours running around Antonica, and would dearly love to craft my Adept 3 Blaze spell. My issue is that, at level 11 scholar, the recipe for the ink is yellow to me and I presume I have a high chance of failure.
For those that know better than I, should I level up further before attempting the combines, or are their methods to improve my chances of success?
Thanks in advance for your help.

When its yellow, I would rather wait till it gets even.
if you understand the concept of buffs and their usage, then you should be fine.

At 17 I had no trouble with pristine components getting a pristine result. It dinged me to 18. :)

WAIT.
There is a thread that discusses changes to scribed spells on the test server. The crux of it is that the different quality bars may give differnt level spells in the future. While there is no indication of timescale or even probabilty that such a change will be implemented but it's worth rethinking your use of a rare component.
My thinking goes like this....... if the common components give different levels of spells from AppII up to AppIV then there is a posssibility that the rare components will also scale giving Adept II upto Adept IV.
Personally I'm keeping hold of my single piece of raw coral just now to see if I might be able to turn it into an Adept IV scroll in the future if this possible change has any chance of going live.
Thanks for the answers - I am levelling/skilling up so as to maximise my chances before making Suzuri dye/ink.
Go go stroma/tetranoid/iron gual etc etc!

Feyd,
I'm only level 12 scholar atm... However at level 11, I was fortunate to come across a silver and a coral, and made the Suzuri successfully without any trouble at all both times.
To be clear though, that is assuming the scholar understands how the crafting buffs affect the whole crafting process. While the suzuri was yellow to me, I made it without a prob (gave excellent exp too).
Im now scholar 12 and made one the other day. Pristine. An additional question I have for the group is about crafted item quantities. The icon in the crafting window for the suzuri (not sure if it was the ink or the dye) shows it with qty 2 in the corner of the icon. That leads me to believe that it would make multiple units with a pristine outcome. The last one I made was pristine, but only produced a single unit. Is this normal or am I simply confused?

I'm not 100% sure, but I believe those mini-icons indicate whether the process is refine, interim, or finish.
Correct use of the tradeskill buffs should pretty much guarantee success, and its really only down to whether you can make the dye pristine or not - it took me a while to figure out what to do with the buffs (i.e. using them proactively rather than reactively) and appreciate the advice given on this board.

I'd really like to have an answer to this too...

Yep, zealously hoarding my rares until the if/when of App IV Adept IV patch hits.
