Nope, not here to complain but to brag :p

I dinged my Crafstman 15 (finally) cause I was desperate for bank storage. I had two stacks pristine planed maple lumber ready to go and had my other toons make two stacks of the other components. So here I am in front the wood working table hoping I could get at least 20 of the 40 as pristines. I start my first one and what happens? I got slammed with durability hits so badly that I had no hope of countering them. I did this about 4-5 times (cancelling before crude was finished) before I figured I'd better check my sculpting skill, as I knew this to be the key to better results. Sure enough, 37 in scultping. Oops! Well, to raise my skill up I made 10 maple chests, since they're the same components and spammed counters/buffs for skillups. That put me a nice, comfortable 70 for my strongbox combines.

Now was the real test. The strongboxes themselves. Here's the figures:

Level 15 (1% Tradeskill xp)
Scultping Skill: 70
Combines: 30
Yeild: .........

30!!!!! That's right, I pulled off 30 Pristine Maple Strongboxes at level 15 =D Is that not sweetness? It's all in the buffage >< Well, the skill, too. :p

Sorry.. just had to post it :) Ya gotta love 96 personal bank slots with 48 shared slots :D

I to have just hit skill 15 with my craftsmen and plan on doing enough combines to fill out 3 characters worth of banks and the shared slots. I havent gotten started though it shouldnt take long as i already have a skill 13 scholar for the resins and tempers and studs and a 21 armorer for the sheets. Not sure what my sculpting is atm but should be fair, i did several double maple beds just to push my skill up. Will post the results when i get a chance so we can see just how often pristines can be made with smart usage of counters.

Grats on the high success rate. Just don't be too upset when it goes bad for you, and sooner or later, you'll have "one of those days" making the stupid boxes. As a level 23 carpenter with sculpting at 117, I have still lost pristine on strong boxes with a nasty string of negative durability hits right at the end. It happens sometimes and the sheer randomness of it is frustrating.

That's the part that bugs me most about how tradeskilling is implemented. I mean, it's supposed to be more like "real life", right? Well how many "expert" craftsman do you know, that completely and totally blow a project they are working on? How many do you know that blow 5 in a row?

The randomness of it all is what makes it unrealistic, and often extremely frustrating, IMHO.

If they want it to be enjoyable, and more realistic, as soon as a recipe falls into the "easy" category, you should be deemed an "expert", and the random die rolling should be very skewed in your favor to succeed, with maybe a 1 in 100 chance of failure. Once it becomes trivial, are you not, therefore, a "master" at creating that item? And, if logic follows, should it not be even more rare to blow a project, like 1-1000 perhaps?

Now that would be realistic, to me, and certainly more enjoyable. Keep in mind, I am only saying this for stuff that is easy and trivial to make, not the more difficult things.

Not a rant, just an observation :)
