OK - hit me with a Clue-by-four. Where are the crowns and tiaras jewelers should be making? Anyone ever hear of them? Beta or otherwise? Have I just not noticed them yet?

Are they supposed to be there? I would think it's tough to wear a crown under a helmet or a cap. Not to mention, some males wouldn't be caught dead in a tiara...

This isn't EQ1 :P

There are no Crowns and Tiaras to make in EQ2. They got lost during the wars :D

Actually - I was looking at my inventory window after I made myself a fresh set of jewelry and made an observation:

Jewelers and Armorers have 7 slots each to fill. Ours are on the right side of the inventory window, theirs are on the left. The symetry is kinda nice.

That said - I think it would be very neat if they added a quest at each tier to give each profession a recipe for one of the other's slots. Head slot for jewelers (because it makes sense) and waist for armorers (also kinda makes sense - bracers was a slightly more obvious idea, but that would be two slots). Heck - even make it so that there is a cross class dependency (we get our primary component from armorers and vice versa).

That sounds interesting. Make the quest reward item a book that requires rares...

They would have to do it for every class though. If they do it once though they will do it again. When would it end? That could lead to every class getting something from another class every expansion. Pretty soon everyone is a level 50 artisan. Really great idea, but it would have to be very carfully handled by the Devs. I don't want this to end up like EQ1, so as much as I like the idea I say, if it ain't broke...

One slot for earrings, but two for rings and two for bracelets? (and one for bracers, I might add)... I still have no idea why we craft belts. It just seems sloppy.

From your point of view. You also only have one slot for feet. Why not two? They put together things that are traditionally a pair. Though I'm sure there will be enough arguments otherwise, this is like argueing that 1+1 = 2 is not correct due to rounding errors. :D (Ok, so not quite!)

And belts, well, depends on what belt you want. Hold up your pants? Sure, grab a length of rope. Will that help you? Not one bit. Have a heavy duty sword belt crafted? Slight bit of protection and utilty - which, by the way, you can rarely buy without tooling. Get into "dress" belts (though mainly for women in the US) and it turns into some intricate affair of metal and gems (or can).

They chose a path and it at least matches with SOME expectations. Might as well ask why there are only seven wonders of the world? Why not eight? Or nine? Why have the seven seas? Shouldn't there be more or less? Don't they all connect in some fashion, shouldn't it be the one sea? (*shrug*)

Why do we all only have one ear?

Hey, I really wouldn't complain. You get as many slots as armorers (and tailors) get, as well as making upgrades for scouts, and quite a bit of service stuff that other classes need.

Come to think of it, I should make a jeweler....

Why do we all only have one ear?

Well, by that logic...

Even if you only have one ear, why can you only wear one earring in it? :)

Good question, because as a Kerran, we pierce every friggen part of our faces it seems.

I am a more conservative Kerran and just have my nose and lip pierce, and obviously only one ear. :p

Pirate? Never! (They hang pirates)

I happen to be a Nautical Pre-Salvage Merchant.

"We need to get all the valuables off that merchant ship."

"Why?"

"It's going to start sinking any minute now!"

"But it looks brand new! Why would it sink?!?"

"See this cannon?" *pats the cannon right next to him*

I realized after I posted here, btw, that I under-estimated the jewelers' market.

You already fill as many slots as armorers do. And you fill them for all characters whereas armorers have only half the market and tailors have the other half. And you make runes. And you make some service items you can sell to other classes.

Honestly, I think I might just add a jeweler to my stable of characters. :) I'm really not complaining because as tough as armoring is I know there are fewer people in it and therefore demand and prices will be higher. But still, you do have it pretty good, for the most part. :)

P.S. I'm really not exaggerating. As an armorer I make equipment for seven slots which only half the people out there can use. Nothing else. No bags, no service items, nothing. I'm not really complaining, just pointing out that the field is somewhat limited. So please, don't ask to fill any of my seven slots, 'k?

Could be worse. Could be a weaponsmith. One maybe two slots on Warriors and rogues only and weapons sell for less than half what one piece of armor does (at least on my server).

Even with that though, I am darn happy with my trade choice. It is very challenging and has still made me a nice profit.
