View Full Version : Skillups just not happening?

I've been having a LOT of trouble raising my skills. Today I logged in and got to work on all the severed elm I've collected.

At the start of the day, My Fletching was 35, and my Woodworking was capped at whetever it is at Artisan level 7. I turned 80 severed elm into 72 Pristine Elm Lumber and 8 Elm Lumber. Not a single Fletching skillup. I then turned those 72 pristine elm lumbers into 31 pristine planed lumbers, and 41 Shaped Elm Lumbers. No skillups again. My Artisan level did get to 9, which raised my Woodworking to 52/52, but didn't touch Fletching.

So my questions: Is there something I'm missing with reards to skillups? Do I have to make things higher than green for XP? (I didn't have to with my Outfitter.)

Also... is there a recipe that uses planed elm lumber as a secondary ingredient? If not, I may as well sell all this non-pristine stuff.

I've only ever gotten 1 skillup using tier1 "tradeskill buffs" and that was in chemistry. Not much use for an Outfitter. However, using tier2 buffs, I've already maxed out my Light Armor skill.

Not very helpful, I know, but it's what I have. :(

Artisian recipies only have a chance to give a skill up at the completion of the item, not when using a counter. Its not a very good chance so id say you just had a very bad run. The only real way to work your skills is to get your class and tier 2 counters where you can easily gain 5-10 skill ups per combo till a particular skill is capped at current exp level.

To answer your second question, i dont think there is a recipie that used planed lumber as a secondary. Probally not worth much to a vendor and as your almost a 10 anyway id find some up and coming crafter and give it to him or her.

I was able to make elm boxes for my inv. Not very high quality, since I am a scholar, but, nonetheless, it was exp and more inv space.
